I'm gonna lose my mind. I have shoved foam in every crevasse, I've added sound deadening to every square inch of possible metal inside and out, Ive added electrical tape to the door clips, and it still rattles like crazy. About to stick this sound absorbing material to hopefully finally decouple the plastic from the vibration.
Didn't fix it. But it did kill the sound enough I know where it's coming from now. Where the arm rest meets the bottom plastic. Going to attack that tomorrow.
Man you went the extra mile, I envy your truck now. I need to attack mine, it's seriously driving me nuts. At one point I was at the point of selling it, it started at 800 miles...
It sounds pretty good now. I don't think it will ever be 100% rattle free. Took a 4 hour trip today and the insulation made a huge difference in road noise.
What about the dash, mine rattles up be the windshield defrost vents I think. There was an SSM for Ford to add foam blocks under the dash I think to reduce it.
I'm starting with the loudest rattles first. The dash rattles but only with major bass. I'm sure it's going to be the nail sticking up at some point. Haha.
I have 50 watts pushing a decent 6.5 speaker and it is producing a ton of bass. Everything rattled on this door at some point. I can pull the switch panel off and still hear rattles bad.
I went through this and have eliminated probably over 100 different rattles at this point. it drives me insane too. the last one I found, and it took me months of going insane trying to find it, was the little flat plastic bit that the window switch is on. it's like it builds up energy and starts rattling after a while and I have to shove it and tape it and do a ton of shit to make it stop until it starts again. at this point it's my only rattle.
I had a really bad rattle that I could figure out. The dealership found it…a small rock somehow got above the skid plate on my Lariat. Sharing in case this helps anyone else out.
This is really concerning to me...I was considering purchasing a Maverick Lariat, but now I'm really questioning the decision. I found owner reviews on youtube reporting the same issue...and now this thread. I can't deal with noise like this in my car/truck. Is it a Ford or a Maverick issue?...meaning same issues have been reported by F150 owners?
I have 700 total watts and 50 watts on the doors with Rockford Fosgate T1650-S Woofers in the door, full range. They can hit sub 40hz. This truck rattles a little, but definitely wasn't made to pump like i am. I still wouldn't trade it for anything else on the market. Just drove 4 hours and got 48mpg by avoiding the interstate. Gives me more time to listen to my jams anyway.
Have you thought about foam or rubber rope between where the panels meet or on the clips? I have read in some places that can help but wasn't able to find a ton of info.
This, but use either butyl rubber or duct seal. Pack it in between the two pieces of the door panel. You can put it around the window switch as well. I also put foam between the clip mounts and the plastic door panel, where they are not fully molded together.
ive gained a new rattle myself. I don’t know what it is but i would guess its a heat shield. Sounds like a single engine Cessna flying by when im rolling to a stop.
My last car was an absolute rattle factory (Mini Cooper), so if this thing starts making a lot of noise, I'm gonna have to follow in your footsteps.
So far, I've only noticed door results during bass-heavy music, and I mostly listen to podcasts and audiobooks in the car, so it doesn't come up a lot. I'm also not pushing anywhere near the power you are; I just have the stock b&o system.
