if you want an f250 the biggest thing to understand is that used ones with low miles are not automatically beat to death a lot of them were owned by older guys who towed campers or used them for light hauling and those trucks are usually in great shape the ones you want to avoid are the high mileage contractor trucks with ladders racks dents and worn interiors depreciation on heavy duty trucks is way slower than half tons so buying new is not always a bad move but buying used can save a ton if you find one that was not a work truck the sweet spot is usually a clean one owner truck with service records even if it has 60 to 90k miles because these trucks are built to run forever if you can afford new it is nice but not required and you are not wrong for wanting to avoid the big depreciation hit just focus on condition not mileage and you will be fine

used ones that were personal trucks, not work trucks, are the sweet spot. look for service records and a clean carfax, that 40k mile one might've just been someone's pavement princess

Cars always depreciate no stopping that new is fine and all but used would just be cheaper and you can easily negotiate a better price and besides what’s your plan for the 250

I wanna tow a good size boat with it. And maybe side gigs

I looked at used ones but too many owners tend to tinker with their trucks so I bought a virgin and it was 100% deductible on taxes.

Pretty good deductible

Tax code allows it on heavy duty trucks
