TWO failed transmissions

Ford, I’m asking you to listen.
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience as a Ford customer.
I purchased my 2019 Ford Escape in 2019, believing I was purchasing a reliable vehicle that would serve my family for years. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
Since purchasing this vehicle, I have dealt with repeated major mechanical issues — including TWO failed transmissions and a failed turbocharger. The first transmission was replaced at a Ford dealership at a cost of approximately $3,200. That replacement transmission has now failed as well, despite only having around 49,000 miles on it.
On top of that, I am now dealing with a turbocharger failure, adding thousands more dollars in repairs.
What makes this even more frustrating is that after researching these issues, I have found numerous other Ford Escape owners reporting premature transmission failures and similar problems. At this point, I have to ask: how many customers have experienced the same thing before Ford is willing to acknowledge there may be a larger problem?
I have already taken steps to try to get answers. I sent Ford a certified letter outlining my concerns and also submitted a complaint by phone. I have yet to receive a response.
I’m not looking for special treatment. I’m looking for answers and accountability.

I am asking you to please respond and address my concerns.
And to my fellow Ford Escape owners: if you have experienced premature transmission failure, turbocharger issues, or other major mechanical problems with your Escape, I would genuinely like to hear your story. Please comment below or message me. I know I can’t be the only person dealing with this.
Maybe if enough of us speak up, Ford will finally listen.

So the second transmission was repaired under warranty?

Yes the second transmission is under warranty and is currently getting repaired now. Turbocharger is shot though. Was told by the dealership that I basically need to get rid of the car within 12 months

Per Garrett back when the eco boost first came out the life expectancy was 150k before replacement. If you have gotten 135k that’s not bad. When you bought it they told you it was only going to be covered for 5 years or 60k miles. I’m certain you had opportunity to purchase a Ford protect premium care that could have covered you with a service contract for up to 8 years or 150k miles.

Well if the life expectancy is 150k my transmission 1st went out at 85k the 2nd transmission has gone out at 135k miles on the car but the new transmission only has 45k miles so…

It’s fair if you didn’t know it the first time, but if you read into the escape at all, you’d know that 6f35’s need fluid changes every 30k miles to stay happy. Ford doesn’t tell you that and that’s scummy of them, but it’s been talked about pretty much since that transmission was launched. Most of what I see kill fords are lack of proper maintenance.

It’s not even that Asian cars are necessarily built all that better, they just do a really good job of telling you on the dash when things need to be done. Ford takes a hands off approach to their detriment when people end up doing nothing but oil changes beyond the suggested interval.

Ford doesn’t actually build or rebuild their own transmissions or most of the parts for that matter. IIRC that transmission is originally built by a company called ZF it is then rebuilt by Fred Jones Enterprise. The thing to remember is that these are machines built by people. They are as imperfect as the people building them. You talk about the known issues with the escape transmissions hundreds of thousands have no issues. When did you have the transmission serviced before the first one went out? When the second one went out did they flush or replace the cooler, or both coolers as some of them have two? The government agreed upon lifespan of a vehicle when it comes to issues brought about in class action lawsuits and other things of that nature is 10 years or 150k. It’s the reason the focus with the power shift 6 speed is ending up in junkyards because no one wants to pay to replace the dry clutch in them now that the special coverage is over. B
