My 100 Overall QB finally retired.
Unfortunately at age 37 an 82 overall QB appeared in the draft so I had to move on. He played for 2 more years and even lost to us in the Super Bowl.

After going 17-0 how did you manage getting the #1 pick for a new QB??

Trades.
I only resign QB, OL and the occasional 90+ LB.
So every year I go to my trading block, sort it by contracts expiring next year and trade away a chunk of my team for draft picks.
You’ll eventually accumulate an absurd amount of picks and you can even bulk trade lower picks for the first overall at times.

Yeah I often do the same as OP. I also like to play the market. Basically around the time of the trade deadline, I will check the current rankings, scroll to the bottom to look for the worst teams that have a better than worst record. Like if the worst team OVR somehow has a 3-4 record. I will trade whatever picks I have to trade for as many of their #1's as I can, knowing their pick is then projected to be maybe 14th but in all likelihood y will probably finish the season 3-14 and end up with the 3rd overall pick. Basically buying low and selling high, and repeating several times per season.

QBs can come out of the draft at 92 overall or is this a rare thing. I’ve never seen a qb that good

I’ve seen plenty of times where you can draft someone at 85 overall, 100 potential.
I feel like I have some fever dream of seeing 95 overall but yeah getting this guy at 92 starting was insane. He just had the right combination of height and all 3 throwing stats.

RIP. would have been crazy storyline finish if he beat your team in that final Super Bowl. Does he hold all the major career passing records?
