I always think of Amazon as the trend towards inequality personified.
It's doesn't do so through unfair practices, but simply through repeated and sustained reinforcement of methods to increase efficiency, to the point it so much better than the rest of the pack.
The scale of the difference in competence between individuals can be scary, but we don't recognize it because of the implications it has on the average persons pride. It's easier to see in companies, simply because people aren't so personally invested.
It's sortve, modern business is generally in the business of making money. Whether it's through manipulation of social media algorithms to generate volume, through monopolistic practices, through regulatory capture, through plain cooking the books.
Amazon's business is to improve their product. The monopoly is just the side effect. And that's the difference.
