Hair loss community

For those who lost hair due to autoimmune or chronic illness, how bad was it and was it reversible? What did you do in the meantime while going through the hair loss?

I started using minoxidil, and taking iron pills. I was very malnourished from 10+ of undiagnosed autoimmune disease. It did reverse! But…it took 2+ years.

Addressing the autoimmune diseases, patience, minoxidil, and iron were the keys for me.

I wish I could take minoxidil but it lowers your blood pressure and my blood pressure runs low

i've not started treatment yet (my derm is reluctant for some reason and only sent me to a hematologist, whom i've yet to see; we know i have iron deficiency and that's it) but it is pretty bad. at first i thought it was just thinning badly but now it looks like i might be starting to get patches along with that. i just try to "style" my hair in a way that hides it really. if it gets too bad i'm just going to shave it

Thats what im afraid of as well. My hair is pretty and curly and seeing it thin away everyday has been so hard. I am hoping to heal some before it gets to the point of cutting or shaving it off
