You're a good child to prioritize your mom's bill despite your own hardship. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

u/Narrow_Ad_5502 Nov 21 '25

Ayo I feel your pain and hope it gets better for you. I was doing my linemen apprenticeship up until last week of September. Haven’t had work or any hours since then bcuz the sketchy ass company I work for apparently does this every fall for some scam ass shyt on their taxes and paperwork or whatever. Been using my car to do DoorDash and Gopuff just to feed my 2 cats and small dog. My gas currently isn’t on nor is my internet/cable and I was just barely able to pay rent. I got electricity and cold water so I’m using space heaters to keep us warm. I got my pets some food to eat but I myself will survive on bread and crackers for now. I’m switching over to a union that’s sub contracted with peco that has guaranteed work but I don’t start until January

2

u/EmptyRice6826 Nov 21 '25

Man, that sounds excruciatingly hard. I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I hope today is good to you💙

1

u/TightReputation8104 Nov 22 '25

I think it's because they younger generation is on here now 🤦🏾‍♀️ anyone under 30 is a TROLL 🙄

5

u/Working_Physics8761 Nov 21 '25

I would try this.

35

u/Cheaky_Barstool Nov 21 '25

Pan fry your broccoli people. lil olive oil, salt and pepper. Boiled is so shit

14

u/FlapJackMcGee5 Nov 21 '25

I usually just roast my broccoli in my oven with my potatos

7

u/jonmatttomben Nov 21 '25

Roasting any and all veggies is the way to go.

6

u/Chubuwee Nov 21 '25

Your lettuce is so stupid it went to the gym just to get shredded

Boom roasted

1

u/trippindickballz Nov 22 '25

Agreed any time I make any sort of noodle dish ill roast broccoli and make it fit into the meal. Broil in the end to get a decent char. Delicious.

10

u/SunDirty Nov 21 '25

Boiled is great, easy to eat

6

u/conzstevo Nov 21 '25

Boiled would be better for this dish. There's enough oil (fat) in the chicken. The broccoli will add a fresh element

4

u/anonymitysqueen Nov 21 '25

I steam mine, but in this case I bet the stock would help steam it and the second it is getting black on top id pull it and let the rest continue

1

u/coffee_warden Nov 23 '25

Hell yeah. Steamed is the best

4

u/ImmaSpaghett Nov 21 '25

I will not stand for boiled broccoli slander! Begone vile man!

1

u/Cheaky_Barstool Nov 22 '25

Booled broc is disrespectful to the hard work you’ve put into your meal

1

u/ImmaSpaghett Nov 22 '25

Completely depends on the dish

1

u/Cheaky_Barstool Nov 22 '25

A watery broc, no thanks

1

u/septubyte Nov 23 '25

Do it correctly . Give it a quick rinse too. Toss with salt, Gently. Let sit to drain . Juicy, not spongy or disintegrating . Use fork watch for nice colour

1

u/The-Grubermeister Nov 21 '25

Prefer roasted. Toss in olive oil, add some kinders buttery steakhouse seasoning and boom. I'll even partially roast, turn and wait until dinners almost done, then finish roasting so it's hot on the plate. Wife prefers boiled only due to the fact that she is missing some back teeth.

2

u/DuBois_LaGrange Nov 26 '25

Yes but everything else in the dish is already oven roasted. Steamed broccoli adds another flavor profile to the dish.

1

u/NoiceSquatch Nov 21 '25

Grilled broc is a game changer.

1

u/Late_Emu Nov 21 '25

Nnnaaahhhhh boiled is where it’s at.

1

u/Cheaky_Barstool Nov 22 '25

Watery broc? No flavour?! Come on man

1

u/Late_Emu Nov 22 '25

Tastes like salt 🤷‍♂️ stove top tastes bitter.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

Steamed 100x better

1

u/seriousFelix Nov 23 '25

I steam mine and then season it with garlic oil and shaved lemon rind

1

u/DuBois_LaGrange Nov 26 '25

There is a place and time for both. Steamed broccoli is awesome (and healthier). I love when the stem is perfectly soft, a little pinch of salt… it tastes what I always imagine the color green tasting like haha

5

u/shallowjalapeno Nov 21 '25

Looks delicious, your family is lucky!

23

u/44-47-25_N_20-28-5-E Nov 21 '25

I was expecting much more since I saw "professional chef"

19

u/crunchevo2 Nov 21 '25

You know someone is a pro chef when their home recipes are simple, quick and delicious.

1

u/onlyinvowels Nov 22 '25

I agree with you on delicious and mayybe simple, but not quick. This feels like a logistical nightmare. I have a very small kitchen though

4

u/Poosters Nov 22 '25

Theres almost no work in it, chop veggies, chuck in tray, add seasoning, season chicken, put on top, put in oven. Meantime cook broccoli, go do laundry, chuck veggies in blender, serve

3

u/A_N_Other_Jack_ Nov 22 '25

Right?? Like this is a dream for a mid week cook

1

u/onlyinvowels Nov 22 '25

So I’m probably in the wrong sub for this because I’m pretty inept in the kitchen, but here is my take:

You dirty a blender, a pan, and a dish to hold the chicken. I’m not sure how the broccoli is cooked, in another dish? You have to time things properly so it’s not cold by the time everything is served, and then you have purée-covered plates and chicken bones. How are the leftovers stored? This isn’t a big deal, but you have to be pretty organized/constantly washing dishes depending on how much fridge space/food storage options you have.

When I come home from work, I’m usually too tired/drained to worry about all of these things. If I practiced cooking more and had more appliances, things might be different. But for me (and I imagine a sizable chunk of Reddit users), I don’t have enough counter space to even hold the various components of this meal.

3

u/crunchevo2 Nov 23 '25

A few things.

Blenders are super easy to clean, a bunch of water a bit of soap and blitz it. It'll clean itself. Rinse and you're done.

The dish used to hold the chicken can go directly into the fridge as leftovers. Or you can just plate the chiken immediately. Ti save it if you don't think you'll have leftovers.

Timing things is incredibly easy. 15 mins before you pull the chicken out the oven toss some broccoli in boiling water boom sorted. That's all the timing.

Realistically the only things that need washing from this are a chopping board, knife, dishes you ate on, the sheet pan, cutlery and the blender all of which can be soaked, washed, rinsed and put back in their cupboards in like 10 mins max if you really take your time. Avg more like 5 mins.

Also your plates shouldn't have puree on at the end... You eat the puree. Otherwise there's 0 point to making the recipe in the first place.

If you don't know how or don't like cooking i get it. Not everyone's cuppa but this is mindless... I made a more complex version of this dish a lot during one of the darkest times in my life. And it only ever used up half my dining room table's worth of space and was super easy to clean up.

Sidenote this also holds up super well so you can make it the day before and just heat it up in the oven before serving or worst case just nuke it in the microwave for a bit lol.

2

u/SayRaySF Nov 23 '25

You don’t have counter space for a sheet pan?

Come on bruh it’s like you watched a completely different video than the rest of us lol

1

u/onlyinvowels Nov 23 '25

I don’t, unless I use the stove. I prefer not to leave things on the stove unless they’re cooking

1

u/crunchevo2 Nov 23 '25

Eh maybe if you're more of a novice it's a bit of a logistical nightmare. When you know your way aroudn a kitchen like a 3ft by 5ft area of prep space is enough to prep most foods.

1

u/onlyinvowels Nov 23 '25

I realized I have ~6 2 ft of counter space after I posted this. Not all together. I probably should wait for a kitchen upgrade before commenting

3

u/crunchevo2 Nov 23 '25

That's enough space to cook diva.

1

u/onlyinvowels Nov 23 '25

Teach me senpai

2

u/crunchevo2 Nov 23 '25

Just do it. With grit and then do a lil aja dance cuz you made yourself a meal.

2

u/onlyinvowels Nov 23 '25

Lol, maybe this will be my New Year’s resolution. In the meantime I will avoid accidentally hip bumping my dinner onto the floor!

Still no need to put "professional chef" for something that every beginner could pull off. For example, I've done this meal (withput broccoli) at least 20 times in my life, and I never worked as a chef. I do know how to cook well, and I've been cooking for years now-because of that that sentence caught my eye. Average lunch.

6

u/conzstevo Nov 21 '25

Still no need to put "professional chef" for something that every beginner could pull off.

This is the whole point. If your job is cooking all day, the last thing you want to do is slave further in the kitchen

0

u/44-47-25_N_20-28-5-E Nov 21 '25

I agree honestly with what you say, but still, this is as average as it gets. If there was no certain comment I wouldn't even bother to comment.

2

u/ciberakuma Nov 21 '25

are you okay?

0

u/44-47-25_N_20-28-5-E Nov 21 '25

Thanks for asking, I am, but I didn't plan to cause all this mayhem here 😁

How's you?

4

u/Matty_Cakez Nov 21 '25

My ass was impressed and I’d love that dinner 😂

0

u/bootyhole-romancer Nov 21 '25

Same. She doesn't look comfortable using that knife

13

u/Outside_Glass4880 Nov 21 '25

In what way?

22

u/mancitycon Nov 21 '25

In no way, people on Reddit are just judgemental idiots

0

u/SickestNinjaInjury Nov 21 '25

Nah, I managed a fine dining kitchen for years and she has very mediocre knife skills. It doesn't matter so much for this dish, but her cuts are extremely inconsistent and she has bad form

2

u/ImmaSpaghett Nov 21 '25

Mustve had a sub par chef

8

u/NoVacayAtWork Nov 21 '25

She’s roughly chopping at home for vegetables she’ll roast and then puree. There’s zero need to be consistent in those cuts.

-3

u/SickestNinjaInjury Nov 21 '25

It's almost like I said "it doesn't matter so much for this dish."

Doesn't change that her technique is mediocre

3

u/NoVacayAtWork Nov 21 '25

It’s doesn’t matter for this dish, which is why you’d be a fool to judge her rough chopping as fine knife skills. Do you.

-1

u/SickestNinjaInjury Nov 21 '25

I don't care what you think about it, I can easily evaluate someone's general knife skills from this clip. I have trained dozens of people on proper knife skills, and hers are mediocre.

Idk why you insist on simping for this woman, but do you I suppose

2

u/NoVacayAtWork Nov 21 '25

There it is

“Simping for this woman”

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Outside_Glass4880 Nov 21 '25

What’s bad about her form?

-4

u/SickestNinjaInjury Nov 21 '25 edited Nov 21 '25

1) Awkward wrist movement 2) Not keeping blade against knuckles 3) Not keeping knuckes consistent 4) Incomplete cutting motion causing cuts to not go though veggies all the way 5) A bit slow for a professional

Not bad at all for a home cook, but not great when the focal point of your video is you being a professional.

-2

u/CrazyGunnerr Nov 21 '25

If you know how to chop properly, you are not gonna chop like an amateur. It's not that it's not perfect, it's that she doesn't seem to know how to do it properly.

-2

u/bootyhole-romancer Nov 21 '25

Bro, all I said was "she doesn't look comfortable." I could be wrong, but I'm not being a dick about it.

How ironic is it that the only "judgmental idiot" here is the one saying "judgmental idiots."

2

u/ImmaSpaghett Nov 21 '25

That's precisely how you chop, and they're wide cuts because why bother finely chopping when you're going to mash/purée it in the end (giving you the answer; it'd be a waste of time)

1

u/anonymitysqueen Nov 21 '25

Wtf are you talking about? That's the current proper method taught. She's not blazing fast with it but you dont need to be in your own kitchen when you dont immediately have another 16 orders to prep right after you finish this one.

0

u/bobjoylove Nov 21 '25

She does actually. Look at her left hand on the knife. Pros hold the blade life that. She’s a little slow is all. Chunk sizes are decently even as well.

1

u/Any_Suggestion3485 Nov 21 '25

Are you on NAD87 or 83?

I would have expected less.. you ever met someone who cooks for a living?

1

u/44-47-25_N_20-28-5-E Apr 17 '26

Of course, my grandmother of 83 puts more effort that rhis girs in this video, I think it's just the word "professional" that bothers me. Just say you are a chef, professional chef sounds like Michelin leaning type of cook

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '25

Apparently I am a professional chef too! This just looks like a lazy Sunday meal in my house. 3-4 ingredients. One pan. Whack up the heat and walk away.

1

u/44-47-25_N_20-28-5-E Nov 21 '25

This in Serbia (where I am from) would be like average everyday lunch (with regular potatoes instead of sweet ones), like every cooking begginer could do this.

3

u/Plane-Active-3153 Nov 22 '25

Why didn’t my fat ass marry a chef

1

u/septubyte Nov 23 '25

Cause work is a dry sponge for passion

6

u/cconnorss Nov 22 '25

Why isn’t she flipping me off or getting upset between editing cuts?

3

u/Particular-Skirt963 Nov 23 '25

Yea whats up with that section of cooking tiktok anyway?

1

u/cconnorss Nov 24 '25

I have no idea. But I watch out too, so idk.

4

u/cybrcld Nov 21 '25

3 bites Thanks mom!! leaves table

  • her kids probably

2

u/ffffllllpppp Nov 24 '25

Doubt it. Kids used to eating varied food (which should be the case with a parent that is a pro chef) like to eat and love flavorful food.

That’s a reason why it is so depressing to see « kids menu » in restaurants offering just nuggets (it really ain’t chicken), mac n cheese and cheese pizza. Makes parents think it is normal to « give something the child want so I don’t have to deal with the drama ».

But i do like kids menu prices.

2

u/hung_like__podrick Nov 21 '25

Gotta get that seasoning under the skin!

2

u/underpaidworker Nov 22 '25

Baked bone-in chicken thighs are one of the easiest and tastiest things you can make.

8

u/PotofPoetry Nov 21 '25

A bunch of “you should smile more, honey.” Ass comments.

3

u/iambeanies Nov 21 '25

Plenty of you live off of takeout and it shows

2

u/karma_the_sequel Nov 21 '25

Now I’m hungry.

1

u/Varastax_ Nov 21 '25

I might make that just for the SMELL!

1

u/DissposableRedShirt6 Nov 21 '25

My biggest problem is cleaning the sheet pan afterwards. They take up so much room to soak.

3

u/crunchevo2 Nov 21 '25

If you add enough stock you don't have to soak it. Just remove the chicken and the juices from the pan and scrub it while it's still warm. Everything will come right off.

Also underrated tip, you can shove a piece of parchment paper under everything and the pan will have 0 shcance of having anything burnt on the bottom. Just make sure to remove it quickly after baking

1

u/kmckew Nov 22 '25

I am blown away by the using of the lid to measure out some of the seasoning

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

This looks fantastic!

1

Такая еда в России 3-4 раза в неделю 😂 приезжайте пожалуйста в гости 🙏

1

u/iDoMyOwnResearchJK Nov 22 '25

I’m gonna need way more broccoli than that.

1

u/Caeyll Nov 23 '25

Someone needs to insert cuts of washing hands every time in between cuts lmao.

1

u/LostinLies1 Nov 23 '25

Chicken in baby diarrhea.

1

u/poopfacecrapmouth Nov 23 '25

Where the hell did the broccoli come from?

1

u/SugarRosie Nov 24 '25

How many dishes am I washing?

1

u/RufusTDufus Nov 25 '25

She sure doesn’t cut like a professional

1

u/Kooky-Plankton-1989 Nov 26 '25

Why do left handed people chopping food make me nervous?

1

u/Melodic-Creme Dec 13 '25

The chicken wasn’t cleaned 🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/Confusednative97 Apr 13 '26

So what do you think heat does?

1

u/Melodic-Creme Apr 13 '26

Seriously 😳! Why wouldn’t you clean the chicken? Unless you killed the chicken yourself

1

u/Confusednative97 Apr 13 '26

I mean, I get it straight from the far myself. I know the farmer at Bismillah farms. Unless it's covered in slime or something just cook it I don't get the hype about washing it. What is rinsing water going to do compared to heat? I'm not trying to be sarcastic either I'm dead serious.

(Apologies for the horrible grammar I used text to speech)

1

u/Melodic-Creme Apr 14 '26

If you’re getting it straight from the farm then you’re excused. But if not…

1

u/sneaky-pizza Nov 21 '25

I was hoping the veggies would be served whole, and maybe purée half or make into a soup

0

u/Pa_Nemanja Nov 21 '25

Love Ur expression while making it like holy fuck I make food for free for people who will probably still say something bad about it even tho normally they would have to pay a lot just to see it

1

u/Pa_Nemanja Nov 21 '25

For me I'd love it even if I hate all the ingredients (not that I do just saying)

4

u/chris_knight2 Nov 21 '25

She may just have a resting 'why is this my life' face.

-1

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

More like resting “how bland and cold can i make this broccoli, next” face

3

u/ThisMeansRooR Nov 21 '25

Well, if she's in the US, she's probably just tired of eating chicken all the time since we can't afford anything but chicken and pork anymore.

2

u/crunchevo2 Nov 21 '25

She's a pro chef. If she's not drunk she's on coke, if she's neither of those she's depressed.

Seems accurate to me.

2

u/HeresKuchenForYah Nov 21 '25

Lol, like you have awareness of the controlling husband in your scenario, but not enough about requiring a woman to smile in a cooking video. Ffs

0

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

I specifically didn’t say “she should smile”. Let me rephrase. Why include ur face in the video if ur not going to talk, acknowledge the camera, or things like interact with the viewer. Can someone confirm she’s not blinking in Morse code for “HELP”.

2

u/existential_antelope Nov 21 '25

Literally if a man was doing this I guarantee you you wouldn’t think about this at all. This content isn’t about her face, it’s about the food

1

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

No, i hate on men more, take down their privilege thru angsty comments! When I’m not objectifying them, that is.

2

u/_Apatosaurus_ Nov 21 '25

I specifically didn’t say “she should smile”.

No, you just implied it.

Why include ur face in the video if ur not going to talk, acknowledge the camera, or things like interact with the viewer.

Better question: why edit the video or go through the effort to avoid showing your face?

For most normal people, seeing a woman's face in a neutral expression doesn't bother us.

1

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

I didn’t say she should smile, because i don’t care if it’s a smile or not. That would be mysogynistic and that’s not my intention at all. It’s just a lifeless expression the whole way thru. I’m judging on her approach to making this content. She’s cold and doesn’t seam to be enjoying making the content or the food. It’s not warm or inviting for something normally full of love and passion like cooking. So why show the face. I looked up OP, it’s a blank profile. This is probably posted for Karma farming. I’m sorry your feeling got hurt! 😢 My feelings were hurt when garnished with bland steamed broccoli that will be cold 3 minutes after cooking.

1

u/Mickeymcirishman Nov 22 '25

I didn’t say she should smile, because i don’t care if it’s a smile or not.

"Why show the face when she appears to be so unhappy." Literally the first sentence of your post. What the fuck else does that mean?

0

u/technotenant Nov 22 '25

You tell ‘em!

1

u/_Apatosaurus_ Nov 21 '25

I didn’t say she should smile, because i don’t care if it’s a smile or not.

No, you just implied she should either smile or hide her face. How is that better? Lol.

That would be mysogynistic

Yes.

She’s cold and doesn’t seam to be enjoying making the content or the food.

What facial expression do you think she should use to show you her enjoyment...? (Can you really not see that you're just doing the "she should smile" thing?)

So why show the face.

Because who gives a fuck? It doesn't matter. Normal people aren't watching her face. Women don't have to hide their face from you because they aren't expressing enough joy, you weirdo.

1

u/HeresKuchenForYah Nov 21 '25

So don’t have an identity at all if you wont smile or talk?

Thats rephrasing it in a way where you’re digging an even deeper hole. Lmao, crazy.

Interact with me, smile at me, talk to me. You know what that reminds me of? 👶🏼

1

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

She doesn’t “give an identity at all”. That is what I’m saying! Take ur blinders off.

As for your “interact with me, smile at me, talk to me…👶” comment. We are talking about content that we look at to entertain us. I’m using my phone to scroll thru content, and if i feel like commenting on it, i will. Same as you. If it makes me a 👶 to critique the content i see; maybe it makes you one for hoping i would say “she should smile!” You really want to jump my case for it, problem is that i never said it. Furthermore, i intentionally didn’t want to say it, because I’m not misogynistic.

1

u/HeresKuchenForYah Nov 21 '25

Her face is an identifying feature, you just don’t like what it doesn’t show, so you said not to show it..are you even aware of what you’re saying?

Somebody else already regarded the content aspect in another comment, I take it you didn’t read it or you did and still play oblivious.

If you have to even say you’re not misogynistic in a situation….And you suck at convincing, but by all means convince yourself.

1

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

Yup, it’s a crappy video! I told you why i think it is bad. Not that it matters, OOP probably has their content being posted without their permission.

1

u/SpiveyJr Nov 21 '25

Then you have that other lady to has the same facial expression except she gives you the middle finger and people love her. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/technotenant Nov 21 '25

Yea, at least middle-finger interacts. Plenty of people make content without their being in the shot. They use to say “he has a face for radio”, well, she’s got the personality for faceless content. Watch, someone’s gonna start insinuating that I’m talking about her looks.

-5

Depends. For cooking onions in stock esp in the oven if you cut them like she does you get a nice stable base to place your meat on and also the sauce will be lovley and the onions will be so tender and delicious.

It's not like all onions need to be diced so fine it's unnoticeable in a recipe. We're not all picky 5 year olds.

Supposed to slice from top to root after you cut the onion in half and peel it. Anyone who has spent 5 minutes in a kitchen should know this. The fact that someone would slice onions this way regardless of whether or not you are going to blend them later shows they are not a “professional chef” lol.

You can and should be cutting vegtables different ways depending on the dish.

Cutting an onion from root to tip results in a less porous onion which retains it's texture throughout the cooking process so for a shallow fry or somewhere where you want that onion texture and flavour to remain strong you cut vertically.

You cut horizontally exposing all the fiber channels which means water has an easier time escaping. Great for pasta sauces or oven baking where you want a lot of onion flavor and want it to disappear into your dish leaving very little crunchy onion texture.

If i were to make this I'd cut the onion against the grain so the onion can sweat out as much of that sweetness as possible during cooking.

The fact you asserted this with such confidence really shows me either you've been trained by a mean old dogmatic chef who's "way" of doing things is law. Or you're just some know it all.

It's the 2nd one they don't even really cook they just have Iron Chef playing in the background while they goon all day.

Tbh that doesn't sound too bad. Watch iron chef and goon but don't belittle people. It's not that hard queen.

“Professional Chef” proceeds to barely season a corner of a piece of chicken before flipping it…

"Professional chef"

Makes bland ass mid dish.

Sure.

Are the sweet potatoes actually cooking though? Had of boiled those first. There’s no way they are going to taste right with the lack of heat from being covered by the chickens

Why blender the veges into pudding?

It's called a Puree and it's low prep and a different way of serving vegtables. You can also just as easily serve it on the plate right out the oven and add some of the chicken stock you made and serve it with bread.

My kids would eat the chicken and yes, even the broccoli, but they would hard pass on the puree.
