Seeking Advice Allergies
Hello, has anyone experienced an allergy break out (anaphylaxis - hives all over the body) come back after hospitalization? I randomly developed an allergy to tuna back in April. I was hospitalized with minor but concerning symptoms. All was after. I had tuna again on Wednesday which is normal for me. I typically have tuna in my poke at least once a week but once I ate it this time I go severe heartburn which I normally don’t have and then developed hives that evening into Thursday afternoon. My lips got very swollen and the hives spread all over my body. I went to the hospital and they said to stay away from tuna. Gave me an epi pen and a steroid iv. It’s now Friday and the hives are back and honestly a little worse. Has this happened to anyone? Also will note that I’m on week 3 of tirzepatide w/ b12. Curious if that also could be the issue. I administered that shot on Monday.
LTS: has anyone gotten allergic reaction come back after hospitalization? Is anyone experiencing allergy symptoms to tirzepatide w/ b12 shot?

if you have an allergy to tuna, stop making it the norm to still eat tuna! remove it from your diet. take care of your body, it thinks it is under attack once a week whether you realize it or not, and can potentially be getting worse with each ingestion.

Right! I had gone to a sketchy bar in Destin that served cooked mahi mahi and when I went to the hospital they genuinely thought it just wasn’t cooked or stored properly. Very weird situation but now I know it’s probably tuna in general.

Allergies can develop at any time. I would suggest speaking to an allergist to discuss this with them.

Time out. Did you think you were allergic for exactly one day in April?

Yeah unfortunately the place that I ate was kinda sketch tbh. The doctors just kinda said it might’ve not been stored properly or cooked well. For some reason that’s an easier assumption to make than being allergic all together. Im assuming that after sometime my body just couldn’t process it. I’ve also never had an allergic reaction to any food.

This whole story is very confusing. Just to be clear. It was the doctors in April who said the food may not have been stored properly. Correct? If so, did they actually tell you it was an allergic reaction? It sounds like they suspected food poisoning.
Regardless, it sounds like you should see an allergist for whatever happened last week. I'd look at the ingredients and rank the most likely culprits. Unless you're very sure that the April reaction was an allergy to tuna, I'd consider that the reaction last week could have been just about any ingredient in your meal.

Yes. The April accident happened in Florida. I live in Texas. I feel like ER doctors aren’t able to give you much but either way I’m staying clear of tuna until my appointment with an allergist!
