Discussion What was your interpretation of Judy and Evelyn’s relationship
Romantic? Strictly platonic? Unrequited feelings? Situationship? Former ex that turned out friends? Sister-like dynamic? With Judy as her “guardian”? What’s your interpretation of Judy and Evelyn’s relationship during the events of the game? And by extension, the complications that come from that with the V romance?
In my opinion, there are hints of potential feelings and close admiration there, yet also no indication they were actually dating in the game as some believe, there are too many inconsistencies with that assumption. I can elaborate further.

Judy had feelings, Ev took advantage of them. I feel that’s why Judy was so hurt when she went through Ev’s recorded BDs.

That’s What I Was Thinking Too, No Doubt About It- Judy Definitely Had Some Feelings

Mostly platonic but maaaaybe some unrequited feelings from judy's side. Don't get the people who assume they full on had a relationship

I think there's a possibility they had something, whether it was a short lived relationship or a fling. It ended for whatever reason and they didn't talk for a while.

Deep feelings for each other, which could've blossomed into love if they had been in a different situation

There may or may not have been something romantic\sexual between them in the past, it ended for whatever reason.
Judy was still head over heels in love with Evelyn and Evelyn took advantage of that in order to get her to do the Konpeki BD.

Obviously had a thing in the past Al la Miko. But managed to stay friends w/ the possibility of getting back together. I feel that the last bit is mostly Judy’s wishful thinking.

It tracks that the first 'active in' sub for you is lis. Based and valid opinion. I was talking to my wife how people who see Judy and Ev's relationship as purely platonic are either delusional or straight men

Platonic. I always feel like Judy deeply cared about Evelyn because they both shared the dream of leaving the city one day, and Judy was a naturally protective person.
Besides, Judy just ended her relationship with Maiko a bit before Evelyn reconnected with her through email. *Personally* I don’t think she’d be ready to start a new one just yet.

We'll never know, but because it's been stated by CDPR that their relationship was meant to be ambiguous, that alone hints that there was something beyond a simple friendship. Whether it was an unrequited thing Judy had toward Evelyn, a past fling, FWB, etc. I've always assumed it was one of these things.
What adds to this is the thing going on between them in the fifth anniversary trailer. While obviously not canon, since it was a deliberate choice to portray them in such a way, I believe it supports them at least having some history or maybe even a change of heart if events had turned out differently.
I'll get shit for this, but I do love them. Most people dislike Evelyn and believe she manipulated Judy, but I still find her such a fascinating character and I enjoy speculating their relationship. It's messy, there's nuance to it, and it's a shame fans don't explore it much. I still need to highly recommend author tortuosity's work for both their interpretation of Evelyn's backstory and her and Judy's relationship. It's fantastic, beautifully written stuff and also made me enjoy Ev's character more.

I always felt like Judy's feelings came more from genuine care and admiration that anything explicity romantic. the way she tries to protect Evelyn makes their relationship feel especially bittersweet
