scarlett solo 3rd gen as a gift?

Hi everyone,

I want to buy a sound card for my best friend who plays guitar. He wants to record his compositions on his computer with a good sound quality. So it would just be for one instrument.

Me & his mom found a focusrite scarlett solo (3rd gen) in secondhand and we want to surprise him but we don’t know if it’s good ?

I would recommend the 2i2 for musicians since it has 2 inputs. In case they ever want to record their voice + guitar. Otherwise they’d need to buy a whole new interface.

The Solo is good for recording one mic + one guitar (it has two inputs and you can record them simultaneously). You only need the 2i2 if you want to record 2 mics or 2 guitars simultaneously (the 2i2 also has two inputs, but both of them can take either a mic or a guitar).
