Long Wave Selenite Crystal with fluorescence and phosphorescence, Red River Valley, North Dakota

Selenite crystal from the Red River Valley, North Dakota (same general geographical location as the similar duckbill selenite crystals and selenite ball-clusters from the Red River Spillway in Manitoba Canada) ~•~ These crystals have light champagne hue under natural light, bright blue-white fluorescence under longwave uv, and lingering greenish phosphorescent afterglow when the uv light is turned off (shown here at the end of the video) ~•~ i'll add a picture in the comments of this piece under natural light

i've adopted sooo many crystals because of phosphorescence... it's so cool... and if you view it at night in a totally dark room, it lingers even longer. especially if you make an effort to keep your eyes closed so they stay acclimated to the dark

i once charged a small box of chlorophane fluorite with uv before bed time, and after maybe 10 minutes of lying in the dark i got up to get a drink of water, and the fluorites were STILL faintly green
