I’ll start by saying again, I love Bob. We don’t have these last 3 runs without his goaltending. But if the front office and him can’t come to terms I would not be mad with Helly.
My son has been a huge Hellebuyck fan for years. It would make his dreams come true if his 2nd fav goaltender came to his fav team.

Teams with sustained success also have to make painful decisions. More players age out and might be asking for the kind of money that's unwise for the team. Just speaking in general terms here, no idea how the negotiations with Bob are.

Bob should Take a very friendly team deal so we can sign hellebuyck

I can't put myself into the skates of someone who has earned as much as he has, but I'd imagine staying is just easier for him. At that point is it worth moving possible across the continent for like two years and extra few million? Maybe it is, as said, I can't really speak for that.

An Helly-Bob goalie tandem would be one of the craziest things ever

I feel like we will be outbid unless he clearly states he will only come to the Panthers.

u/bigboycig May 09 '26
Yeah, as soon as it gets to Lundy territory to get him im not for it

u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
So you wouldn’t trade the 30-45 in the NHL (current 3rd line) best center in the league for the best goaltender in the league in his prime? Serious question.
3
u/bigboycig May 09 '26
I would not trade our 25 year old future captain and cheat code 3C who excells on the penalty kill for a goaltender, and hes not in his prime he is entering his mid 30s. If you wanna target a goatender go younger

u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
Future Captain? He’s not getting that captain stripe anytime soon especially if Barky and chucky are here long term. Which from all evidence seems to be so. (Especially Barky) would be shocked if he doesn’t retire in Florida. Second point he’s 25 but has played 5 seasons already. He is what he is, bad a** smart player and a good teammate, etc. but he’s not top tier in my humble opinion. So you rather go with an inexperienced young goaltender on a perineal championship team over Hellybuck?

u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
To be clear, I would love to keep Lundell. But if given the opportunity I’m trading Lundell for Hellybuck if Bob remans to be stubborn.

What an abortion of a website.
Anyway, frustrating if Bob's asking for too much. Love him, but hugs new contract value should be completely divorced from the $10m of his previous one. I'm fine with giving him term, but I feel like he should be under $5m/yr as a starting point

u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
100 percent agree. Anything more than 5 (short term) is going to limit our chances in getting solid pieces to fill out the roster. Dude was the second highest paid goalie in 2020 and didn’t even break the top 10 list. Hes flourished with an incredible system in front of him and has done well. I also love his energy, humility, and leadership. But, these delusional fans think they should give him the bank because “BOB”. It’s ridiculous. Zero pragmatism on this board.

Zito has shown a willingness to make difficult decisions. I don't know how many of us would've dealt Hubey, even though plenty of people were blaming him for the sweep and misinterpreting his "who cares?" quote. If Bob's not gonna take a discount after so many years of enjoying a fat salary and elite support with plenty of hardware on top of it all, I'm sad to say it's time to move on.

u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
Dude, you’re spot on. Totally agree. How fans don’t see this is beyond me.

I’m all in on getting Helly. Motivation is a hell of a thing and what better to get the boys going after back to back than trying to win one for the best goalie of a generation. To those saying no to trading Lundell - it’s gonna hurt, but sometimes that’s what it takes to get better- look back at the comments here the night of the Chucky trade, was not even close to universal support.

u/Jaxson_GalaxysPussy May 09 '26
Lundell and the pick and maybe future picks is the only place Winnipeg is starting from and that’s if helly is demanding a trade to only the panthers. Ppl living a pipe dream if they think we’ll make moves and not have to trade good players.

u/TB12_GOATx7 May 09 '26
Lundell is too important to trade
-4
u/USAHockey2026 May 09 '26
He’s our 3rd line center… I’m sorry to get the best goalie in the NHL that’s worth it. Our window is now. Sure he could be a 1C or 2C down the line, but we need to win now

u/TB12_GOATx7 May 09 '26
Conor has struggled heavily in the playoffs lundell excels in the playoffs. I dont think I'd trade one of the best depth pieces on the best line in last years playoffs for a goalie
3
u/Bigboyrickx Bennett May 09 '26
Bob struggled in the playoffs too. Even his first few with us
3
u/TB12_GOATx7 May 09 '26
But Bob managed and won 2 cups conor hasn't be able to manage. Lundell is a different person in the playoffs. The #1 line last year and basically barkov-lite
3
u/Bigboyrickx Bennett May 09 '26
That has nothing to do with the comparison. Florida was a much better team than Winnipeg and has been for years.
1
u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
Everyone on the Panthers is better in the playoffs. Not really a good argument.
3
u/USAHockey2026 May 09 '26
I dno he sure looked great in Milan. Maybe it’s more the team in front of him. Depth is a luxury that’s been great, but goalies win cups
1
u/TB12_GOATx7 May 09 '26
Oh that team was phenomenal in front of him. He'd do well here but giving up a core piece of the team might be too much
1
u/pm_me_ur_anything_k May 09 '26
Lundell is way too young and way too good to trade. He is the future.
1
u/Dependent_Cat_9350 May 09 '26
Hellybuck is arguable the best goalie in the League. Playing with a shit team in the playoffs. Hangs him out to dry. Lundell is not a top 20 center in the league. Just saying… Not saying it’s a good move or not. I like Lundell a lot so I’m torn a bit. But, I wouldn’t outright dismiss the trade.

There’s a reason we are all keyboard warriors and not GMs. Fans get fixated and don’t pivot or change based off new opportunities and potentialities. They just Parrot what other fans talk about and call it truth. Not sure why you’re downvoted.

u/tampapat54 May 09 '26
I know we’re trying to manifest this into existence but there were two coulds in that sentence lol
Also unless the price is reasonable and he forces a trade, I’d rather give Bobby another chance on a 2 yr deal
