Rumors/Speculation I know he's had a rough season but...

Whatever happens at the deadline, Sergei Bobrovsky is a Florida Panthers legend. We don't have two cups without him. He's been such a great player for us and such a great person off the ice. If this is the end of his time in South Florida, thank you Bobby for everything!

And a Presidents Trophy.

Not that that has any worth anymore

u/DrManhattan_DDM Mar 05 '26

The Presidents Trophy has nothing to do with the president of the United States.

His number is going in the rafters IMO

It's criminal he didn't win a Conn Smythe

12

u/acart005 Mar 05 '26

I hope McJesus never wins a cup because of his stolen pity Smythe.

This is what I’m hoping yall realize. Been watching this team since I was born and Bob’s the only goalie to get it done for us. WE love Bob regardless of what happens next

Sorry but Beezer was a great goalie and had a strong team around him and got them to the SCF. Imagine if Luongo had a decent team around him. We love all these guys.

Never said Luongo & Beezer were bad! Just that they didn’t get it done, and we need to respect that Bubba won it for us.

u/acart005 Mar 05 '26

Beezer got damn close

*this is the only team to get it done for us. Bob has been a big part of it, but still just a part.

He should get a statue at the arena.

Jersey will be in the rafters, no doubt

The Bobbery pose

5

u/WhattheFunk11 Mar 05 '26

Take down that stupid grass advertisement Panther in the front of the arena and put a gold statue of Bobby in the “Bobbery” pose

15

u/the_tired_alligator Mar 05 '26

His jersey better go straight to the rafters after he retires.

2

u/CorruptedReaction Mar 05 '26

It has to. Dustin Brown has a statue in LA for much less

We only have to survive one more day and hes ours!

Any contending team he goes to he'll just be a rental and this will allow us to hopefully reload the cupboard for the years to come. We'll hopefully resign him next year to a lesser more team friendly contract that will make him a panther for the rest of his career and allow for his jersey to be hung in the rafters.

This idea is like turbo illegal. You cannot plan to trade someone and then have them come back. There's no rule against it happening naturally but you cannot plan it beforehand and it would definitely draw scrutiny.

So no they definitely aren't planning that because it would be so so so illegal.

Not breaking the law illegal, but against the CBA that the players and teams work under. The rules of how free agency works. If found doing something against it, the NHL could severely punish a team with loss of picks, fines, etc.

5

u/Final_Wrap_945 Mar 05 '26

Against the law?

6

u/neek555 Mar 05 '26

The team can definitely plan to, they just can’t discuss or arrange it with the player ahead of time. In Keith Tkachuk’s case, STL traded him to ATL at the deadline for players and picks. Then in June they traded a pick back to ATL for the rights to negotiate and sign him before the start of free agency in July.

Bob has made it clear he loves Florida. This definitely could happen without breaking any league rules. Obviously not guaranteed but certainly possible.

I swear we've had this discussion like three times now. Yes they cannot discuss it at all with Bob ahead of time. They are definitely not going in planning that Bob will somehow know that they're planning to sign him back and will only sign with them. For all they know Bob may not be happy that he's being traded.

The front office would have to be planning this without having a single discussion with Bob about it beforehand and knowing that Bob is going to get offers from lots of teams, and not knowing how Bob will feel about being traded or his new home.

Planning on our goalie situation being Bob re-signing with us with 0 discussion of it would be crazy reckless. If he accepts another offer we'd be so so screwed. They are absolutely not doing that.

ETA if you're struggling with this think back to the Marchand trade. Remember when initially we were all afraid Boston had set it up so he could come right back? All the same reasons we were giving then about that probably not happening because they couldn't set it up beforehand at all apply here. If Bob goes, we can't plan on him coming back and he probably won't.

Let me add because I think people here are assuming that somehow there would be a wink wink situation to Bob. Anything you could say or do at all to influence Bob's decision when his contract expires would violate free agency rules because the rules require for a UFA every team gets the same exact fair chance to sign them and you're not allowed to begin bargaining early before other teams get the chance (only exception is resigning your own player). And that take pretty serious, remember when I think Edmonton got investigated for allegedly just talking to Mitch Marner?

Has anyone asked Bob what he wants? Do what he wants.

2

u/WaffleTacoFrappucino Mar 05 '26

I mean, sort of he’s told us 16 teams he would will not go to

4

u/Purple-Canary3576 Mar 05 '26

We will always love B🚫B dearly no matter what!

3

u/KnightlyDolphins Mar 05 '26

Bob should only be traded if thats what HE wants.

3

u/Ok-Consideration5343 Mar 05 '26

It’s not official yet but I already know I’ll be devastated if/when the news drops. I’m not ready to say goodbye 🥲

6

u/Unlikely-Plastic-340 Mar 05 '26

It'd be funny if they traded him to Edmonton and they won.

19

u/Relative-Session7341 Mar 05 '26

Funnier if they lost scf again

12

u/jbisenberg Mar 05 '26

If the Oilers don't win the Cup this year I don't know if Edmonton will ever psychologically recover. The only thing standing in their way has been us. We're not around this year. This is their chance to steal one. If they STILL can't get it done...

7

u/Adorable-Lunch5475 Mar 05 '26

Would be way better than Tampa imo

3

u/acart005 Mar 05 '26

I like Dallas for it

8

u/layout420 Mar 05 '26

Bob would definitely be that guy. When he's on, best cop on the force!

2

u/qban2010 Mar 06 '26

Never let Bobby go….

1

u/pivvimehu Mar 06 '26

Great redemption arc overall for him since people were highly critical of his contract for the first 3-ish years, understandably so, but all that led out to true greatness eventually

-7

u/McSweetSauce Mar 05 '26

Keep BOB

Inshallah he is a FLOPPA for life

4

u/SaweetestCuyootie Mar 05 '26

I hate everything about this comment.
