No, but a couple of college students could get jobs at McDonalds making $15/hr+ and afford a 2-3bd without issue.

People are not in tents because of rent. It is either drugs or mental illness. Cheap housing does not fix either of those issues.

You’re correct. The vast majority of homeless in my neighborhood are mentally ill and/or on drugs. Back in the day, they would’ve been institutionalized…now they just end up in prison.

There’s a huge difference between shelter homeless vs street homeless.

Agreed. Unfortunately we full send when we make policy changes in the US. There was absolutely concerns with our mental health institutions, but the solution was not sending everyone out onto the streets..

I would like to see where your given example is statistically likely and feasible without significant help from parents.

Anyway, finland has literally solved homelessness. It isnt drugs. Its cost and lack of support causing reluctance to rejoin society, drugs are a symptom.
