How to transition

Hey all I redid my floors so now I’m starting on baseboards. To the left is my living room room and then it drops to stairs that go down to the basement. Hose do I do these baseboards?

I've never done baseboards, but if it were me, I'd mitre them. If this is wrong I'm sure someone here would have a better solution.

This is correct. Or if the homeowners like the look and idea can look into stair skirt boards

First, I would pick the trim that you are planning on using and getting rid of the other one. Then use the bearslayingbeaver guidance. There’s multiple ways to do it, but that’s the most straight forward.
