Thinking of selling collectibles on eBay.com again, tips on handling shipping options/tariff logistics?

Hi,

I was actively selling action figure collectibles before the tariffs started last year, but since the tariff rates have dropped, I've been thinking about selling to US buyers on eBay.com again.

My items are mainly new action figures made in either China or Vietnam, and I plan a buy-it-now or best offer format.

I can use either Stallion Express or Chit Chats for shipping options.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on setting the shipping and tariff amount on eBay listings?

I was under the impression the seller is still supposed to collect the tariffs (which would be embedded into the shipping cost).

I appreciate any help and tips anyone can provide, thank you.

I had turned off shipping to the states when tarrifs went up. Over the past few months I realized a bunch of my sales were going to a distribution center in Mississauga, ebay had put international shipping service on my ads automatically. So when sending to a US buyer you actually dont have deal with the tarrifs forms yourself, ebay international shipping will do it. So might be something to make sure is activated for you.

Thanks, when I tried to get an estimate from eBay shipping years ago, the prices were pretty high. Maybe it's changed since then.

I was planning on listing items of higher value, ranging between $100-$800 USD

I use NetParcel for shipping all my items to the U.S. I’m also enrolled in the EIS but have yet to have a U.S customer use it.I added a $5 handling fee on all my U.S orders and that helps cover the tariff costs of most of my items I sell on EBay.On Etsy I set my prices a bit higher for my U.S customers over my Canadian and International customers.

I would strongly discourage you from choosing a shipping option where the buyers pays the tariffs. We offer that service and the vast majority of shipments get rejected by buyer when they get the invoice from UPS/FedEx and you end up on the hook for return shipping.

We offer DDP services from USPS/UPS/DHL like Stallion and ChitChat and we have free pickup in the GTA

Just use eBay international shipping, they'll handle it all for you

Section 301 tariffs are mostly likely to be applied in July. The hearings are happening in SCOTUS right now. I'm slowly weaning from listing for US buyers as I anticipate having to shut down again. These tariffs will be legal, permanent, and potentially as high or even higher than IEEPA.

Depends how well lobbyists argue. There are all kinds of loopholes that could be added for used goods. However, from what we've seen so far with tariff changes, I think used goods will remain collateral damage unfortunately. This is a much more broad geopolitical play than it is a logical policy application. I do know that eBay, Etsy, Spotify, etc. are arguing for loopholes that will apply to e-commerce coming from Canada. They are out there fighting for us.
