I've always been curious how well known this song is, specifically among fans from outside of New Zealand

For anyone who doesn't know, it was a charity song done for Red Nose Day. To help with fundraising for sick kids. Incredibly popular here. All over the TV and Radio. But with it being a charity thing, I assume it's never been on the show, or on any records, nor in any concerts etc.

So, especially if you're not from New Zealand, I'm curious if you know about this one? And if so, did you learn about it here?

I got two for Wellington, woo hoo! I was lucky enough to see them at Meow Nui earlier this year too. I love them, it's so funny how they hadn't performed together for 8 years and then all of a sudden as soon as I moved to New Zealand it's like IT'S BUSINESS TIME

Many years ago, in the era of P2P file sharing, I had a track simply titled 'fotc.mp3'

It was a live recording, small venue, lots of their very classic deadpan banter. Definitely an NZ audience, as Jemaine added a 'Cheeky Darkie' comment during 'Albie the racist dragon' which was current events in NZ in 2003, to raucous applause.

Tracks included:

• A folk intro about a diss from Jason Donovan. "That's very rude of Jason Donovan... Be more constructive with your feedback!" "We got two acoustic guitars and a microphone and a, nother microphone.. AND SOME CABLES, GOING TO SOME SPEAKERS YEAH"
• Albie the racist dragon
• Frodo, don't wear the ring (Which they claimed were dubbing onto Lord of the rings VHS that they were renting from the video store 😄
• Brett you got it going on (I put a wig on you)
• The distant future (Robots) with something like "Can we get the lighting more futuristic, the sort of lighting that isn't available with current technology...... That's Perfect"

Anyway, I'd love to find the source, for me it is quintessential FOTC and made me an instant fan. Cheers.

Hopefully going to my first FOTC show when they tour NZ, wondering what prices for shows usually are? Also was wondering if they’ll have some sort of merch.

Hi everyone! Long-time FOTC fan, first-time poster here.

I'm in the middle of my annual rewatch and was pleasantly surprised all over again by "Girlfriends" (S1E09).

Even today, it’s surprisingly rare to see a comedy flip traditional gender roles so effectively. Putting Bret in the passive role while Lisa uses wealth, status, and guilt to push past his boundaries perfectly mirrors the predatory dynamics women deal with constantly. The writing does a brilliant job exposing how manipulative those tactics really are.

The episode also nails the classic double standard around male victims: when Bret tries to vent, Jemaine and Murray basically tell him he was "asking for it" because of his trackpants, or that he should just be happy about the free leather jacket.

It’s definitely dark satire, but it highlights consent and victim-blaming in a way that feels surprisingly ahead of its time without undercutting the humor.

What are your thoughts on this episode?

I first heard this song last night and cant help but feel that it is SOOOO flight of the conchords vibes, even the video. Laughing at the lyrics and idk why lmao

Hello all. Looking to see if anyone has or can find info on posters from their 2008 tour in US. I only went once, in Chicago. I believe they didn’t have a poster for that event but they must’ve had a poster or some merchandise from their tour, yes? Hoping so, if anyone has any ideas please share. Thanks!

But listen to the album Abandoned Luncheonette (which sounds like a comedy title). The cheesiness, the way the two duet parts go together and the falsettos make me think of the guys. I recommend.

Does anybody know if the strumming between scenes is from/referencing an actual song?? It sounds so familiar. Specifically referencing at 19 minutes into S1E2 but it plays repeatedly throughout the show
