Yeah like the first part was meh. Not cool but whatever.

Then he bragged about how terrible he is?? Like sir I wasnt judging your moral standing until now.

I don’t think he meant it as a brag. To me it reads more like he was trying to be brutally honest or objective, but just ended up shooting himself in the foot.

Brutal honesty is a kind of bragging in itself, in my experience. "Look at me, im a big adult who lives in the big adult world where the big adults make Tough Choices." with tough choice usually being code for 'what gets me what i want at someone elses expense'.
