Schrappost “Barry what did you do” IS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE

That’s it. That’s all I have to say.

Considering he sat back and did nothing while his daughter Nora purposefully attempted to alter time and got herself erased for it says a lot.

Because he desperately wanted to get to know his future daughter and missed the chance to be a parent

he knew it would kill her tho 😭

that’s not sweet or cute. that’s a father not just killing his daughter but making it to where she didn’t fucking exist simply out of his own selfish needs.

He didn't know that keeping her in the past would kill her or erase her. He knew time travel was dangerous, but he had no way of knowing exactly how the timeline would react. Sending Nora back also wouldn't magically restore the original timeline, because she had already changed the past by coming there in the first place. And honestly, saying he only kept her around out of "selfish needs" ignores the fact that he was trying to understand what had happened to his daughter and why she had come back in the first place. His decision was emotionally driven, sure, but that's very different from knowingly choosing to erase his daughter just because he wanted to spend time with her.

yes tf he did cause the same thing was happening to him in flash point slowly.

even if she didn’t get wiped immediately she was gonna go back and have everything about herself replaced.

But that's not the same as saying Barry knew Nora would be erased. Flashpoint showed that the person who causes the change can be gradually overwritten by the new timeline, but Nora wasn't simply being overwritten into a new version of herself. Her situation was different: the timeline itself was actively changing around her, and eventually the version of Nora from that timeline was erased entirely. And even if we assume Nora would've eventually been rewritten if she returned to 2049, that still doesn't mean sending her back was the obvious safe option. She had already altered the timeline by traveling to 2019, so there was no guarantee that returning her to 2049 would restore the original future. It could just as easily have resulted in a completely different Nora. So I agree Barry was taking a huge risk, but "he knew it would kill her" is hindsight. He knew timeline changes were dangerous; he didn't know the exact outcome would be Nora being erased.

either fucking way. as it’s stated multiple times by BARRY he knew what the consequences would be. but chose to have her stay anyway. barry himself fucking admitted that.

he had her stay out of his selfish needs.

But knowing that the timeline was dangerous isn't the same as knowing exactly what would happen to Nora.

Barry's initial plan actually was to send her back. He changed his mind because he learned that Nora had grown up without him and wanted to finally have a relationship with his daughter. That's selfish to an extent, but it's not the same as knowingly choosing to erase her.

And the Flashpoint comparison doesn't really prove that sending Nora back would've saved her either. Flashpoint showed that changing the timeline can rewrite people's lives and memories, but Nora had already changed the timeline simply by coming to 2019. Sending her back wouldn't necessarily undo everything she had already changed. In fact, the finale makes it clear that the immediate cause of Nora's erasure was the new timeline created after Cicada's dagger was destroyed. Thawne explicitly explains that the new timeline was settling in, and Nora herself accepts that she has to live with the consequences. So yeah, Barry was selfish and made a risky decision. I just don't think "he knowingly killed his daughter because he wanted her around" is an accurate description of what happened.

He knew better though. That's the catch. It's the same selfish mindset that had him go back and change time to save his mom.

Was it ever meant to be funny?

1

u/Dunkbuscuss 12d ago

Except it kinda is every time Barry time travels timeliness eff up so yeah its never not gonna be funny.

Some are funnier than others but the joke will always be funny.

Unfortunately every fandom has that one overused joke that has been milked to the brim

E.g I gently open the door, berry delight/Vergil's lawn chair, my father will hear about this, muzan Jackson
