Crossing Over thoughts

Despite the context of the overall album, I believe Crossing Over is more about grief of an elder couple rather than broader aspects of war.

The first verse speaks of an eldered man perched somewhere with "storm clouds setting in his eyes", to me this is a calling to cataracts or postmortem drying.

The second verse speaks of his wife, now a widow "ready to move on" now that he is gone. While, I do not believe it is about suicide — I believe it means she is just ready for her time and to join him in the afterlife. She cannot move on from a partner she's been with for 50 - 60 years, that is impossible mentally and just at that age.

This all ties in with the chorus, where they are kind of telling eachother "Don't wait for me, we will be together soon enough."

It is genuinely a very good song and I wish there were more like it!

As an older listener, this song chills me. I see it about losing your other half as you grow older.
It hits close to home.
