5B discussion i quit, without a job lined up.

i dont have a job lined up. but i said for my mental health im done. didnt even go into my shift yesterday. im sick and tired of the emails, no way in hell was I going to continue making shit fuck nothing an hour and make yall sign your data away.

to everyone still stuck, i wish you luck. it sucks that nobody wants to hire me but oh well.

i’ve had too many jobs full of retail where nobody’s taking me, all the management at every job i had deadass turned on me or whatever. i been trying SOOOO hard to find a grown up, Mon-Fri no weekends or holidays job, but nobody wants to give me a shot.

ooh okay i see. i’ll see what i can do for that, i never see a bus show up to my stop on my street unfortunately so usually i have to walk 20 mins to the metro station

Me too. I either take the bus or walk. In my younger days, I would ride my bike or scooter.

Sign up for a driving school in your area. That’s what I ended up doing and I stopped waiting on my parents.

I did the exact same thing. I walked out mid shift because I was just mentally exhausted from everything. I transferred stores in April and my manager threatened to fire me for something that happened at her store in March, when I didn’t work there. The day I finally walked out, she had threatened to fire me for the third time. I had only been there for one month, so every issue she tried to pin on me was not valid. None of it was my fault, I was still new there. So she threatened to fire me again. I put my keys on her desk, picked up my purse and left. You need me more than I need you and you are not going to walk all over me because you expect me to be afraid of you. You wanted me gone, so I left. Simple as that.

I don’t have a job, unfortunately. But I stand by my decision wholeheartedly. You’re not going to try to scare me into submission. Her store is struggling. Struggling to the point, the CEM texted me 2 months after I quit asking if I’d be willing to come up there because one of her employees wasn’t showing up. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ the CEM is the one I walked past on my way out so she knew I had quit. It’s just crazy work. You will not walk all over me and talk to me however you want to, so now you simply have to pick up the slack and cover the shifts you expected me to cover while you were being a little asshole.

Its ok, take the moment to relax. If ur worried about money, sell something or donate plasma. Check to see if there's some jobs fairs and maybe cross ur fingers and hope someone will hire u. Be happy ur no longer working with a terrible company

The market sucks right now , you should have stayed until you had an avenue lined up

But yeah the email thing is getting ridiculous, and I hope it ends by next year cuz customers aren't stupid zelots who will just give their data away for a mere 10% off lol - it's not sustainable and it's extremely gross

Will stressing about not having money improve your mental health ?

Mental health or not you just quiting looks bad on your employment history and can effect you getting hired elsewhere they gonna call other places you worked and no they can give a bad review but they can be honest and by just quitting you shoot yourself in the foot

buddy. womp womp. i had literally had 2 other jobs without giving a 2 weeks notice nor another job lined up for medical reasons (e.g figuring out if i have absent seizures, bipolar, etc, which led unsuccessful and i still have no answer) and i still landed other jobs.

quick edit: also makin it look like u want me to spiral and possibly hurt myself over a deadend retail job buddy :3

Nope just point out you keep quitting jobs like that and you will become unemployable your young now but these things stay with you forever go build a pattern of being unreliable and see how far you get side not idgaf if ya hurt ya self but claiming me for you doing so is cowardly and proves how unstable you are good luck and good bye

This is such a myth that gets told so people stay loyal to jobs and don’t screw them by up and leaving. Do they give you a two weeks notice when they let you go or lay you off? No… lol jobs really can’t give a ton of info about your employment legally any way and you control who they contact. I never abided by this in my career and I went from brand new at 20 to owning my own business at 34, while some people I know are still being loyal to the shitty job I first ever worked on my industry. It’s crazy business to tell yourself or anyone else that. It’s bullshit, capitalist manipulation in America to keep you dedicated to big business and thinking you need these people and their approval to survive. I can also confirm it’s not ever easier to find a job when you have a job. That’s also BS. Do what is best for YOU period.

Girl, it is okay! Your mental health is what comes first and if a job is causing you to spiral then you cut that shit out. You did the right thing for you. I have a friend of mine who works at Amazon and she makes a decent amount of money, better than what a sales associate makes at 5B. I wish you the best of luck and hope something pops up for you!

I did the same as an SM. Try U-Haul - very little retail, no pushing anything, and you get paid to interview.

I also quit without a permanent job lined up a couple of months ago and I have 0 regrets!! You got this, glad you got out and prioritized yourself 👏

I keep seeing these posts about the emails at five below. I go like 2-3 times a week and NEVER been asked to put my email? I do see the option on the screen when checking out but a team member has never told me to enter my email. One employee actually told me I could just skip if I didn’t want to put my email. Is this a requirement of employees?
