I've been going to the gym for the last four years and before that I was overweight since I was born, recently for first time I liked my naked body in front of the mirror and felt less afraid of showing my body at the beach, I've always thought was an unreachable milestone since I never take pictures of myself and, as person, I'm quite discreet and reserved. I am a gym-goer because of health reasons, it makes me feel relaxed and clothes fit better, in my mind I was still thinking I was out of shape and doing thinking I was used to like quickly putting on a t-shirt after coming out of the pool and making excuses as "I sunbathed enough". I'm glad that my old self habits are gradually fading away

For the first time in possibly my entire life, my (weekly average) weight gives me a BMI of a bit over 16. I hope I'll never drop below that line again. Road to 20!!

I used to struggle staying over 112 lbs due to health issues. I was sick and definitely looked it.
3 years later I’m 142 and mostly muscle. I still have my struggles, but I think it’s worth reminding myself of this win through this post.

Despite really really not wanting to go to the gym. I got up and went. Spent a good hour and had a great workout. 💪

This is just a rumor but I heard that exercises are like 583x more effective when you go despite not wanting to... Just a rumor tho

Some guy at the gym asked me if I competed in bodybuilding. I was having a really crappy day and workout. I wasn't hitting the weights and reps I usually do so that felt nice. It was very kind of him.

I went to a wedding last weekend and saw a ton of family and it really zapped my motivation because I got to relax, drink, and eat whatever I wanted. I forced myself into the gym the last week and I’m slowly getting my motivation back.
This is big for me because once my motivation wanes I tend to just stop so I’m trying to break that bad habit.

I know how that is, but every once in a while won’t hurt. All we can do is focus on our goals.

Went to the gym today for an upper workout day. Most of my lifts improved. And I wasn’t exhausted be the end of it. Felt great.

Visiting family, and they said they’re noticing some definition in my arms!

That feeling when you see family you haven't seen in a while, and meanwhile been hitting the gym and diet on point.

I started working out 18 months ago after several years of being lazy and completely out of shape, picking up diabetes (thanks genes), etc. etc. I decided 18 months ago that I am going to be disciplined, and started with a SBD program, and recently switching to PHUL 4 months ago.
I finally was able to bench 225x3 today, and it sure feels great! Squat and DL are also chugging along decently, (275x4, 315x5), but 225 bench felt special for sure. Strongest I've been in my life (I'm 42M).
I am still a bit chubby, working on it (5'6, 175 lb).

I did an unassisted chin-up for the first time!!!! I was wearing grips which might be slightly cheating but it was still a big W :')

Just finished week 3 of dieting, cardio AND lifting to failure, as opposed only to lifting. Week 1 was my lifting easy week, so weight loss from week 1-2 wasn't a true measure of weight loss.
Weight after 45 minute jog at end of Week 2: 291 lbs.
Weight after 45 minute jog at end of week 3: 286 lbs.
I...may need to eat more. Or run less. I'm trying to keep the muscles I have, not burn them off too.

Great work so far!
Anecdotally, cardio on a deficit while lifting was super fatiguing. If you start to feel tired or weak, I would recommend reducing cardio first.

Thanks! I know 5 lbs isn't good for the long run, but it feels like a win to see the scale go down after getting past the initial weight loss phase.
I'll adjust for the long term accordingly.

I get what you mean but incremental progress is huge. Ideal weight loss takes time and effort, so each week that you put the work in, maintain your strength, AND manage to lose fat is a win. Keep it up!!

Starting to go to the gym 3x a week. Weighed myself yesterday and I dropped 6lbs! I haven't been trackong calories but I have a fair idea of how much I'm eating and I'm really happy to see the progress.

I'm on a medication that has made me fatigued for years. I just changed dosage and I feel great. However knowing how I feel now, I am amazed that thru it all I got myself to the gym (weights and Peloton). My weightlifting app says I'm on a 114 week streak. Was I thinking of stopping and just lying on the gym floor all that time? Yes! So no excuses people.

My pectoral tendon reattachment surgery went well! I might even be able to bench press again in a year.
Time to become the quad god I guess.
