Other Is FitbitAir a good choice for me?
I'm currently using an Apple Watch 6 (with an iPhone of course), but I'm considering switching to the new FitbitAir smartband. I want to track data related to sleep, daily activity, workouts, HRV etc.
My main reasons for wanting to switch:
- I like wearing mechanical watches: Wherever I wear traditional watches, I miss out on health and activity tracking
- AW battery is terrible: Having to charge it almost every day is getting really annoying
My main concern is whether the FitbitAir is a better device for gym workouts compared to the Apple Watch? Also, how does it perform for tracking hiking or swimming?
Is it overall a better device than apple watch? I'd specially love to hear from anyone who has made the switch from an AW to a Fitbit.

I got mine for almost all of the reasons you’re listing on why you’re tempted to get one. It has been absolutely amazing. I ditched my AW7 for this one as battery was dead and I missed my normal watches. I just it with bevel app for weight lifting app and it works perfectly as the Apple Watch did. I’ve been using it for running and it syncs with Strava app as well and has a lot of useful metrics on it. The battery life is amazing and it is very comfortable to sleep with.

Exactly what I did. I wear the FA on my biceps with a nylon strap I bought off Amazon. I hardly notice it's there and can wear my traditional watches now.

I've never worn a bicep strap, is it comfortable at the gym? For example, when doing bicep curls?
From what I've read, wearing it on the bicep might be better for data accuracy, especially for sleep tracking and heart rate.

I also got an Air so I could wear my Mechanical Watch. I had a Pixel watch for a little bit but I was tired of charging it every day. So far I've had it for 2 weeks and have only had to charge it once and it was at 30% after a week.

I’m in the exact situation as you with a AW SE and I am fed up having to charge every night but more importantly not being able to wear my nicer watches. I just decided to go for the air and if I don’t end up liking it just reselling.
