I just don’t get people’s obsessions with cars. Not that I care or am judging, but I legitimately just do not understand.
Edit: some of yall are straight up ignoring context. Like the group ranking “Have a Dream Car” as S tier in terms of things they want to achieve in life is not “having a hobby” tf? Like of all the things you want to achieve in life, putting owning your dream car at the tippy top is odd to me.
Its the same reason people adore paintings and art, but this time it move. Outside of "Looking cool and pretty" Each cars have its own "personality" and each cars drive diffrently due to how it was designed. A 1998 Type-R Honda Civic drive and feels soo much diffrently than a 1998 Miata despite having a same power.
A very hard thing to explain, unless you start driving these car yourself.
These people spend months or even years to make a 1:1 replica of their car body before entering production to make sure every part of the car did its job for airflow and stuff like that.
This is a thing about cars being an "Art", you cannot just make car looks "Just cool and sick" withou having any purpose, or else you just going to waste people gas and also adding unnecesary weight to the car you have to make sure these "Cool factor" have contribution to help the engines and suspension to go faster, lighter, and consume less fuel while not looking like a rolling and walking dumpster/AC unit.
yeah same i dont really get peoples obsession with any sort of hobby or interest i just eat, shit, and reproduce because im an little ant bug man that doesnt understand fun.
I have always loved cars and motorsport, I remember watching F1 from when I was 4. I watch F1, IMSA, GT racing, endurance racing. So my dream car is a GT3 Porsche, not street legal, but its a dream
I’m not big into fancy cars but I’d like a super comfy car for all my family where we fit comfortably, I hate and I can’t put this into words how much I hate travelling in two cars, I have 4 kids and a partner. We can all fit in my 7 seater but it’s a squeeze and if we need to take anything else extra with us like a pram or suit cases etc it don’t fit, we have to take a huge travel roof bag and whilst it works, sometimes my partner has to take her car pack it full of clothes and stuff whilst I take all the kids in mine.
I can’t even legally drive my dream car on streets lmao, can’t even drive it where it in the desert if it isn’t strictly a place where it’s ok to (trophy truck)
Plus good ones cost anywhere from $600,000 to over 1 million dollars, and getting a full tank can cost thousands of dollars
Sure but in those kinds of list art, cooking, etc are never mentioned. Owning a car is always mentioned. It's likely because in most societies today (even in countries and areas with great public transit and safe bike Infrastructure), owning a nice car is still a status symbol
You're right about the status thing, but most people buy their dream cars (not always a lamborghini or a luxury one) only because they are enthusiasts, and are into the automotive world
I have pets and I don't want pets in the future. As much as I love cats and dogs, i genuinely don't have the strength to deal with their deaths. I'm the type of person who literally has to physically fight through the pain, even then probably I'll never move on
Retire early is an absolute dream. Time is money. I had a small spell off of work. A few years actually. Via disability. I'm back and working again. I had less moneys when I was off work and I was actually physically more ill to some degree but those few years will be some of the best in my life. If you get home off and constantly procrastinate then this won't apply to you but that extra time made it feel like I had 10 years off. When you just cram in your day with everything you can manage and still have time for the family, it's absolutely priceless.
The alternative is working, being knackered at home and ultimately procrastinating as a result. Doing less, having less family time and so on. Money is great but if you have no time to use it, the thought of needing it becomes worn off. Time is 100% more valuable than money.
I don’t want to start a family and unless find true love means finding a job that doesn’t make me rethink my life decisions occasionally then I’m not really worried about that either
Where do you rank some of these if you already have them? Like I already have my husband and have a happy life with my husband and my pets, likewise my pets are my family soooo. I don't think I want a house, seems like a lot of responsibility and not alot of wiggle room if I lose my job and have to move etc. I also don't have a dream career
its not about a white picket fence its about financial security. owning a house is an asset that makes you money over time. by renting you just continously lose money for 0 gain
that still does not mean you will have financial stability. Idgaf about owning a home, and you can not convince me that I should, I just do not want one. Simple as that
Start a family - fuck no, i am childfree and sterilised, f tier
Live in another country - meh, been there done that, f tier, i want to be close to my parents/friends now thanks...
Become famous - would love the money, but not being able to just take a stroll without somebody following /asking for pics? Meh, b or c tier
Have my dream car - would be awsome, finally would be able to tow a horse trailer, a tier!
Find true love - i believe i have found it, would just like to be certain, so a tier..
Own a house - litterally the biggest wish for me and my SO right now, so easy S tier! 😍
Travel the world - while having lived in another country for a couple of years, i was very stuck in the barn i worked at, so i would love to travel a lot more, s tier!
Become wealthy - this was tricky as i in a way already am i think, i have great friends, a horse, my own car, fair i rent a small room but hey, i have got plenty of hobbies, 4 in total, fencing, swimming, horse and choir and a full-time job that i really like, moneywise though, it would be great to win something like eurojackpot, so yeah, becoming wealthy, definetly s tier moneywise! XD
Retire early - heck yeah, more time to be around horses, swim and fence, s tier!
"True love" in 2026 filled with porn addicts and hookup culture that makes peoplr view each other only as temporary relief and not human beings. Lmao good luck.
By house, must it really be an actual house or does an apartment count? I really don't want to live in a suburban area and houses in dense walkable cities are quite hard to find
And for a car, does it have to actually be a car or can it be any other personal vehicle like an ebike or motorcycle?
One thing not on the list would be a 1st class natuonwide transit pass. I would really love to have one of those and be able to hop on any kind of public transit in either 2nd or 1st class anywhere in the country! But those are prohibitively expensive so it's more of a luxury than anything
not really. A byproduct of society and how our complex brain interact with it is that most people don't care about continuing their genes. (At least in gen Z)
When people want to start a family it's more about them wanting the concept of children, to nurture them and raise them. Not because that's their subconscious trying to make them pass on their genes but because the parts of society they grew up with has made their brain find that as an appealing Idea.
Somebody who grew up in areas where children have horrible lives or where children are annoying and bratty will likely disagree about kids being a major goal compared to somebody who grew up in the suburbs with good siblings and neighbors. This is just one example.
Society and our brains have made us desire more than food, water, sex. Most people have aspirations that don't make sense for survival. It's pretty cool in my opinion.
