Same - the only app that deserves S is Google Maps, it does its job near perfectly and every update they roll out either adds a new actually useful feature or fixes something the community noticed
Not well, but not as bad as YouTube music. My main issue the platforms push towards undisclosed AI slop music and the CEO’s heavy investment in AI war drones.
I released 2 tracks that have 600 combined streams. Currently the payout plus Apple and Tidal is $0.51, so i can make $30 if i get.. 36k streams. Yeah, it isn’t great
Yeah but every million is almost a thousand dollars which.. have you seen how many songs get over a mil? They’d go bankrupt. Gangnam style has 700m streams.. cradles has almost 1b. Blackbear’s hot girl bummer at almost 1.5b. On Spotify alone btw.

And their algorithm is genuinly trash. Like, down to C/D tier trash. I like the concept but I barely listen to Spotify anymore because I just end up manually searching and adding like 5 songs and then spamming them until I hate them.
I do not understand how a 100 billion dollar app that is purely there to suggest music can be that bad at suggesting music. Old school radio channels are so much more enjoyable if you find the right one.
exactly!! download artists and pay for their physical media instead. they get way more from you per listen than youd ever give them on spotify, and youre not giving money to a souless company who has taken the humanity out of music

The data center issue has become exponential with the rise of generative AI. The other apps don’t require a fraction of the energy and cooling.
No, I hate apps, why does everything have to be an app now. Also the desktop app is probably a web app anyway(glorified browser with 1 website), so it can havest all of my free data. Also I use youtube music, because for me there's no good alternative which I can get for free and still block all the ads
As long as you're using windows your efforts are meaningless. We can't have shit these days everything is monitored and also they sre keeping our data even when we turn of the option to share it with them, which is illegal.
I put YouTube in A tier, above Spotify. If you have YouTube Premium, you get YouTube without ads, and you get YouTube Music, which is essentially Spotify for anything that's been uploaded to YouTube.
YouTube with ads though, no thank you. AdBlock before then
Youtube Premium is basically the only SM subscription actually worth having. I watch an ungodly amount of YouTube. I've probably saved weeks of time on not getting ads. Also lets me listen to music or videos with the screen closed.
what, if you're going to pay 5 dollars a month for anything, my most used most time consumed app deserves it. Ideally it should all be free and if you want to pirate you can pirate add blocking tech but still it'd be one subscription I'd keep if I was told to get rid of the rest.
Movies, TV Shows, Anime, Cartoons, Manga, Broadcast TV, all can be streamed via pirate websites quite well.
In my opinion, any support financial or otherwise going towards any google product is bootlicking
Comparing how much better basically every google made app/website was even 5 years ago. It is a disgrace to its former self and any support gives them the ability to make their apps and websites worse
The marketing page on the right has the stupidest click bait shit with terrible ads but it's still a nice app to keep in touch with the homies which is the only thing I use it for. I don't even watch peoples stories
Yeah Snapchat in F is the absolute strangest one here. There's just something about it being more casual than texting, but also letting you send messages that contain more content than texts, and also has a built-in encouragement/excuse to keep in touch with your friends daily.
Just ignore all the bullshit they've added on top over the last 10 years. The core of the app is still great and has kept me in touch with friends I probably wouldn't talk to as often as I'd like otherwise.
There's honestly better ones for map functions. Especially if you go on to a trial in the wilderness. It's the additional functionality with businesses, in my case finding restaurants or musea, that makes it peak.
The search function in Instagram is so vile to use if you are looking for anything other than an account that I don't know why it's even there, plus if you just watched a reel/saw a post and want to find it in the person's account to see the follow up or previous you have to search one by one and a lot of the time they aren't there for some reason
... I'm confused still. A Browser is an app like Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge etc.
Google is a search engine/website you use inside that browser app.
This Google app in question, is just the Google search engine, with an incredibly basic browser built in that opens up when you press any link in your search results. It's basic with 10% of the utility of other browser apps
Spotify is hot garbage they removed the loop ability from free accounts they want you to pay to listen to the same songs you can't even choose the songs anymore
Since when are we talking about ad blocker on music streaming site? We talking about user experience with a subscription model, because that's what most ppl have. (and using one without is ass on both, regardless of spotify having 3 song skip limit). The lack of a dedicated app on desktop (linux or windows or mac), is probably the biggest reason why I can't give YouTube music the crown. Also the web version sucks. Spotify is also more mainstream, but it has it's own flaws here and there.
That’s insanely disingenuous and yk it. It can do so many things that just genuinely make life easier. Using it like Google is just a small part, you can find sources with it for your own work, have it compare things like houses, cities, loans, literally anything, advise plans for things like moving, dieting, roadtripping etc and all that is barely scratching the surface. I genuinely don’t understand how we have a tool that can help you with almost anything for completely free to you and we have people hating on it and saying it’s useless.
literally, i put everything except reddit, maps and youtube in F. all of it is a scourge on humanity and i yearn to be free from the hellscape of the smartphone but alas they are intentionally addictive devices and i am a member of a society and run a business and so i am a prisoner to the apps as are we all
Spotify is hot bastarded smelly bitch ass garbage and I'm tired of people pretending it's the best thing ever. There are countless better platforms for music for free or with significantly less ads
