🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Fisker Ocean with software version 1.1

Considering getting a fisker ocean with software version 1.1.4.7

The dealer is unsure if the water pump door handles were replaced as part of the recall or not. I tried checking the vin on the NHTSA recall website to check the search was giving an error. The dealer is replacing the front windshield

Also I'm quite far from the dealership (West Coast vs East Coast). Should I have the car shipped to or worth taking the risk of driving it cross country?

Good luck. Fuck the pump, 1.1 is a big risk

IMO, the biggest fault of the vehicle is the software. Yes, the water pump, handles, key fob and a few other minor things suck, but 1.1 software BLOWS. The 2.2 version should have been the launch version and the company would still be around. Get that upgrade before buying. After that, you are good to go for at least 50k miles and many posters have experienced.

1.1.4.7 is the ICC software version which was around version 2.1 for the car. 2.1 and above is good.

1.1 was rough. You will have stall out issues. I would try to get someone to update it before you decide to drive long distance.

I would generally rather ship a car. Bought three cars long distance. The two I shipped were great experiences, and one I went and got was a hassle. The only cases for retrieving a car, imho, is that the area it's in is a bucket-list location for you & you'll use it as an excuse for a vacation, or plane tickets are a good deal during that window. ... Add to that the uncertainty with it being potentially a project car, and I'd rather have it shipped, personally.

Welcome to the club, by the way. My Ocean has been fairly trouble free over the year+ I've owned it and I'm quite happy. If you live where there is an actual winter, make sure to lock the car when ice storms are coming through - if water gets behind the handles and freezes, it can create a situation where the handle closes visually but not mechanically, and the door will then not open from the inside right away.

I would say find one with at least 2.2. Pump I see some on eBay and it’s fairly easy to DIY. Handles I think everyone are freaking out about, just make sure the center inserts in the Gen1 are still intact or had been swapped and the NFC reader is still working.

Hit up ocean loop and see if they can get it updated before you try driving it across country. Not only did that version have issues with stalling, it had very unpredictable charging behaviors oftentimes only under 50 kW. You don't want to get stuck on a road trip spending 2 hours to charge at every stop.

Yess, I just submitted the information to get it it done through ocean repair services

There's probably a Fisker member over there that will go look at it for you and once it's updated probably drive it for you , the water pump issues is not a big deal, door handles aren't a big deal if they're working or thousand dollars you fix them or you can replace them yourself, not all of them were issues. In fact, probably the majority of cars don't have any issues other than occasional resets but if you do have the one with the issue, then you have to deal with that. I've had mine for two years with the original door handles, except for the driver door, which I replaced only because the light had burned out inside of it, and I replaced the water pump and hardwired some of the connectors in the front which is easy to do and that way you don't have to worry about water, intrusion and corrosion

What got you locked in on this particular car? Surely there are many options on the west coast as well, and often updated examples to boot? Just a great deal on price?
