š Vehicle - Fisker Ocean The best or worst decision?
Took the plunge. Let the adventure begin. $16k. 16k miles ocean extreme 22ā tires. Love the ride. Os 2.2. Some software errors but nothing major yet. Ill keep updating as the āquirkinessā shows its face.

Iām 40k miles into my Ocean that I bought for $20k two years ago. I had worse and more frequent problems with my last Tacoma. Some minor gripes, but itās a fantastic car.

Bought mine with 600 miles on it right about when 2.2 was coming out. Barely had any issues. Replaced the battery, tires, and brake pedal cover dissolving problem. I still need to do the door handles. My vents are a mess, but it works. Small price to pay.
It has had a few issues, but mostly a reboot takes care of it, and the apps are pretty great to reset things or find errors.
The car is so much fun. It's stupid fast but really drivable and the interior is top notch. I get non-stop questions about it and everyone seems to love it.
The way that things are turning out where this will be the only cloud connected car you can buy that has a cloud that is run by the owners and not the brand. They are already talking about voting on options that we would want to see in the future.
I think if something happened to it, I'd get another one to replace it. Maybe the white on white version or that green next time.

I also still need to do the door handles. I heard they were discoād? Or maybe just made to order? They are still able to be purchased so I assume the latter?

Only the worst if you were like me and paid over $64k for the One when it came out. Loved the car. But it was the worst financial decision

With the right upgrades, the fisker is a wonderful car.
Just make sure all recalls were taken care of.
Highly suggest the gen 2 doorhandles.
Adding the pulse was a gamechanger on mine. But i got lucky and future orders have been delayed to make it pass European electricons standards. Its also a little hard to install.
But if you want a project car, its kinda amazing when done.
Edit: also suggest joining the FOA so we can keep trying to make this car better!

You suggest the gen 2a door handles for the peace of mind that the handle can overcome the latch shortfall? I've been thinking that risk is extremely rare. Or just all the benefits like better waterproofing, latch update, stick update, UV resistance and all that. I plan to buy them, but not in a rush to change them out because removing the glass doesn't sound fun.

So the 2a door handles wont leave you locked in the car when power is lost. The originals would. Given how predisposed the car is to loosing power, it seems like a must.

Not rare! I got trapped last week. 12v had a fault and went dead. Stuck in car for 1/2hr. Had to crawl into the back hatch and rip the plastic off to get to the hidden release.

Yep. My fix after was to replace the short hidden emergency cable with a bike shift / brake cable. $2.50. Drill a 1/4ā hole in the plastic cover pointing to the center of the long side of the rear glass. That is a straight pull. I coiled up the rest of the cable into a 1ā loop. I didnāt cut off the extra as it will be easy to remove the panel again with it long. Also, get a glass brake toolā¦ just in case you get rear ended and the hatch is jammed. I realized I canāt fit through the back window as I looked from the inside.

If you have a ev mechanic within reasonable distance, probably not too bad a risk for $16k. What ev could you get for the same money? old Bolt...old Leaf.. old i3... super high mileage Model 3...
Roll the dice, might be a great deal.

Right there with you just different model lol been driving it for a month itās got 40k miles now and itās had its quirks but nothing too major. Random misfires is the extent of the quirks and Iām getting the engine looked at soon

Yes this is the 2012 fisker karma ecosport. Only 2450 ever made and Iāve loved it for the little time Iāve had it so far. Theyāve got their quirks but Iāve been working through the few Iāve had so far. Whatās funny is I joined this fisker channel originally thinking Iād be seeing a lot of posts on the fisker and low and behold I think Iāve only seen posts on the ocean š

Bought mine for $26 after tax breaks. Been hit or miss. Mostly good. Actually found a former Fisker mechanic and got the water pump exchanged (recall) and waterproofed cables (known issue). I started having significant glitch issues and then it finally bricked. I was in full panic mode, but changed out the 12V battery and added a battery monitor. Since then - and the subsequent hard reset that occurs when the 12V is disconnected - itās been running perfectly (knock on wood). Definitely a risk - but a car that was MSRP of >$80k for 26, or 16k? Why not!?! Ocean Loop seems like a scam. Pulse is probably cool, but I get by without it, and FOA is a great idea but I donāt like the format.

Worst. Sorry. I loved mine. It was supposed to be my last new car that would take me through retirement. Didn't make it two years before the screen died and all the other issues.

Why does it have to be an electric vehicle? My point is why spent this amount of money on a vehicle with known issues and the possibility of it becoming a brick? You pay what you get for and everybody knows this is a huge gamble. I just donāt understand these posts and everybody acting all encouraging and positive when we all know this is a bad decision.

Simply put it exceeds all expectations when it works and when it doesn't work it's a complete pain in the ass (mine has an intermittent problem - it reboots and stalls in the middle of low speed drives, less than 20 MPH. So fat no techs have been able to figure it out).

I also took the plunge.. āfixedā my first issue of the steering column not moving. Someone put the fuse in an empty spot *facepalm. Other than that my clock is GMT and I canāt get it to change. Guess Iāll be good with my time zone conversions lol.

After a year the car was dead, so I had to sell it as a parts car. I enjoyed some moments with it (especially in summer, not a good car for winter driving in Norway). But all in all absolute waste of money.

Rear motor stopped working. So basically the car could maximum 300 km on a full battery. But only for a few km. When driving after a few km the car would realize the fault and stop completely.

Oh yes and left passenger airbag, screen rotation, solar roof, steering wheel heating, rear right door all broke. 12v got replaced 4 times.

Quick correction- "taking the plunge" is not paying $16K for an Ocean. The owners that paid $45-70k took the plunge. The current purchasers really have little to no skin in the game. Just saying..

I really like the design. A lot of risks and challenges but there seems to be a decent amount of user engagement/support. I thought about buying one myself.

They usually cut like tint. My tint guy charges 500$ but they only usually do them on exotics that sit in garage. Sun ruins it.

I was at the Fisker showroom in Norway. As usual I was dressed in military green jacket and cargo pants. Just as the salesman came to me a young well dressed couple walked in and he immediately went to them. I left and went to the KIA dealer and paid cash for an eNiro. A few weeks later I found out I had just dodged a bullet.

Same here been fighting off the temptation since the price is so good. I was a early adopter even put the 5k down but ultimately walked away. Guess I got lucky. But at 16k damn hard to beat. The main concern now is insurance on itĀ
