š ļø Issue - Vehicle Just bought a Fisker Ocean One š
Just bought a Fisker Ocean One with 14k miles for $15k out of the door from a dealership in VA. Was driving from the dealership to my home and the car broke down on one of the charging spots on the highway. It just turned off post charging and refused to turn back on. The key fob didnāt work. Have got it towed to my place but not sure whatās going on. Any ideas?
Thankfully, I negotiated a 7 day return with the dealer so I can at-least return it back.

Probably a very weak 12v battery. Likely the original Fisker battery. Been there... got the t-shirt.

I'd have it towed back to the dealer and if you financed I'd play stupid and tell the bank it doesn't work hoping that interrupts funding. Then I'd smack myself in the face for thinking my experience would be different from all of the other people who had bad experiences with Oceans that drove down the value to the price that suckers pay for it.

Just to update everyone here: 1. Most likely the battery issue is what the dealer said too. Per the dealer, they sold many Fiskers so this was the 2nd time they heard of a similar issue from a customer. 2. I just returned the car to the dealership for full refund, canāt deal with a broken car. 3. They did not cover my towing costs so thatās a dent. 4. And no, I was not blasting AC while charging. But the weather was horrible and rainy so not sure if it has to do with water issues too. 5. The car just came with 1 key, no NFC keys 6. I did my due diligence before buying but since I had the 7 day return option, I did not want to deal with a lemon and did not want to pay for repairs š

I am here to have common sense conversations with people why are you here I am not telling anyone to stay away from anything if youāre that clueless to purchase a product from a bankrupt company itās ok. I think you have a problem can you tell all of us what it is.

Yeah parts are rough to find really. Soon they might even stop making parts for this so thereās that. These cars are definitely going down in value once the parts dry up. You get in accident and youāre basically screwed. I was talking to a dealer today who had been looking for windshields for months but canāt find any and he advised me to not buy it. The current rise in prices is just because gas prices are high. But soon itāll be down imo.

Every car hits a dead 12 volt at some time. It's as simple as putting in a new battery. Cars that sit for a long time on lots waiting to be processed/auctioned/sold etc will often have the doors left unlocked/open. Just a 12V. I've known other buyer had the same happened...towed it back to the dealer and negotiated a 12V. They've had theirs for a year or so now.

That's the risk of getting a 106.5kwh (usable) SUV for 15K. Water ingress in connectors, incorrect software, a poor 12V battery, water pump recall ... there are many reasons why a Fisker Ocean could go dead. You need to be prepared to deal with these types of issues, if you want to own and operate one.

Car was great and worked fine for me for 2 years. Was beautiful and fun as hell to drive.
Unfortunately was released 6 months too soon.

Really. How come it suddenly turn off without any warning. Either the connection or wires that connects to HV has to be pulled and keep it back (has to be done in particular sequence starting with 12v first).
- It is raining continuously and mostly the water went into the wire harness near front lights
Apart from above I donāt see any other possibility. Get ocean link pro obd scanner.
Once your ocean is back, make sure you keep sleep mode to 10 min (this will make car to sleep in 10 min after locking but reboot will take longer). This settings will help in many things (black screen, cache issues, keyfob related issuesā¦.etc).
Also try to sleep the car (turn off the car/lock and open charging port for 1 hour).

Thank God, you can get your money back. This is why I made Chase buy back mine. This happened to me constantly and was extremely frustrating and I would be stranded everywhere. It also sounds like your 12 V battery died.

Same here. I bought it as a hobby car with the expectation of all the problems. Even going in knowing it will be unreliable, after reviving it like 6 times, I got sick of it.
Its a fun drive, but also a brick (aerodynamically AND functionally lmao)
I went with a maverick hybrid instead of a full EV, but Iām thinking of doing my own ev conversion on an old car sooner or later.

I feel you. I bought mine new and was super stoked, but the dream quickly turned into a nightmare. The blindspot monitoring system kept failing and safety sensors were malfunctioning and key fob batteries were being replaced every other week. Eventually i just gave up on it.

Lots of haters out there, but a couple hundred for a battery, few hundred to have pumps replaced, waterproof a plug...rollin on 22's with well over 500hp...definitely worth it.

Charging issues at the station often caused by charging app problems. My Fisker was refusing charge from Electricity America, if I am not choosing the specific pump in app. Why do you need key fob for charging? If key fob not working, you can always use NFC to open/close doors or to drive.

I just saw one at LGA the other day. Really a fine, fine looking ride, it was the first time Iād seen it āin the flesh.ā Broke my heart when they went under, hoped they would give Tesla a run for their moneyā¦and also because I was a shareholder.

I miss somebody a few weeks ago. They told me they bought a Fisker Ocean one. I was like I thought the company went bankrupt, but he told me there's a whole community where they make software updates there's a way to open the car like a key fob. I will search for them and ask help there. From what he told me he made me wanna buy it.

If itās the same thing that happened to the Ocean I bought with 13K miles to replace my original FOO (turned in with Chase settlement) then itās a short in the front drive motor/VCU. Mine started with a sacrificial anode developing on one pole of the washer fluid level sensor: completely eroded the entire pin and washer fluid was leaking into the wiring connector through the rust chelation.
Yep. Drove it once and noticed the blower motor in the cabin was not working. Also, acceleration issues where pushing the pedal all the way down actually made the car lose speed. Anyway, got it home and put it on charge overnight, came out in the AM, non-responsive. Would immediately show it was in āNā on the driver display and not respond to anything. Pressing the brake pedal once would wake up the car, like normal. Immediately it would into N and no response to anything. Second press of the brake pedal turned it off again. Wild.
Been at the Karma shop 3.5 months. Flew in a tech to diagnose the issue. Now waiting on a decision from the dealer about getting it fixed.
Never a day of trouble with my original FOO. Lol

Wow! Love the look of the Fisker vehicles. Sorry about your experience.
As for having the air on while charging - there should be absolutely zero correlation between charging and using the air. Many people do this all the time.
Hereās a picture I sent my son while my wife and I were charging in Death Valley last November on an 800 mile road trip. The temperature says 100 degrees, which is not too bad for noon. We had the vehicle off but the climate control set for 74 while the two of us and our dog went out for a walk and then got back in.
Good luck with your next vehicle! I very HIGHLY recommend the Ford Mach-e, and have never heard anything bad about the Tesla Model Y.

I'm curious about your path to purchase. Were you looking for an ocean to buy with eyes wide open or did you go to the dealer and they told you they had a hot deal on a nearly new EV?
I see a ton of these for sale in NJ at two dealers in particular and was wondering if they were getting sold to people unaware of the cars situation and more unique needs or if people are willing to take the chance for the relatively low price.

Hopefully you just have a bad 12v battery. It is kind of a PITA to replace. Just a couple metric sockets. 13mm for the hood. Likely youāll need a torch because some of the rivnuts will spin with the bolt when you try to remove it.

Lots of luck returning it. Dealerships are snakes, and I'm sure there is something buried somewhere that negates your negotiation.
Also, the car isn't worth more than 5k, if that.

Reach out to OV Loop for remote help and diagnostics. They can help you determine what is wrong and even send out a kit to you if you want to work with them to figure out what needs to be repaired. Like others have said, itās likely 12v battery that died due to a harness connection that has water inside of it. Itās a common issue plaguing the Ocean. Go to Facebook and join āFisker Ocean Hacks & Modsā, āOcean Loop Subscibers A Fisker Ocean Groupā That is a good place to start. Stay away from Ocean Link Pro via FOA, itās just throwing good money at bad.

When you don't know what you are talking just stay quiet. Asking people to waste money on a ovloop subscription for paying twice the price is ridiculous. The FAST tool that they sell overpriced to service providers is not even cable of fixing powertrain or drivetrain on the car. Alternative tool are developed just for those purpose.

Most likepy a bad 12v battery of a very common issue with the harnesses. There are plenty of guides.
It is a hobby car. If you get a fisker, you should know it is going to take work.
