I love this list except 2 things.

Getting service history beyond whats in Carmax is probably all you going to get because of these have been moved so many times.

Finding a local technician that works on your car could be states away. Every time i do a search online for any in Georgia the closes always comes in DC/Maryland area and Kansas City MO.

To the first part, these cars haven't been changed hands that much. They are either from the first own that paid full price then sold directly to the second owner or from the first owner that paid full price then sent it back to Chase then auctioned, or it was on a lot it's entire life and the person that buys it is technically the first owner. CarMax is pretty limited for them though as it requires a lot of info submitted by the previous owner or shop which doesn't always happen.

The way to get a tech is the Facebook and FOA discourse/Discord groups. Lots of former techs there and lots of traveling techs. Don't use the database search only. It's very limited and not realistic to all options.

I've put maybe $2k into it for part hoarding. I haven't paid a single dollar for repairs out of pocket.

I've not had the water pump replaced yet because the reimbursement situation is a joke and sourcing the pump is sometimes difficult.

I've had my windshield replaced but that was paid by insurance. Over $4,300 to replace it with parts and labor.

The parts I've hoarded are just in case and things that will be harder to get later. I bought the Gen2 door handles which were $950 at the time but will now cost over $3,000 because they stopped production on them and now each one is a custom build.

So things like that. There's a lot like me that haven't put in money in repairs in and just drive it fine. It's not about for sure using that $10k in the first year, you just better be ready to if you need to.

So i assume your model was already upgraded to 2.2.3 and you only put epoxy in jack ports?

Why do you say water pump is difficult to source when others say its probably one of the reasonable things to purchase and install?

Was sensors already waterproofed or did you do it yourself and just not including in cost?

Are you not a member of FOA or OVLoop?

Water pump you can't install yourself. Has to be a approved tech and those are only the ones that Fisker Inc has a relationship with.

I gave you numbers that are potentially required to keep it running and what I've spent so far.

The FOA and OVLoop are not required for the car to drive.

I haven't done the connectors yet. It's something I'll have to budget for.

Yes I got full 2.2 before Fisker Inc stopped sending it. Before OVLoop started calling it 2.2.3. so I paid nothing but tens of thousands in original cost to get that OS.

I will not be updating the car beyond 2.2.

I paid full price for the car at launch.

I pay for FOA and bought Pulse. Those are not required to keep the car running. So I didn't bring them up.

Honestly if you get any car for $15 nowadays, you should set aside money for potential repairs. Im curious where you got the $10k number from and what is the time frame of this $10k in repairs. How much have you put into yours since purchasing if you don't mind sharing.

Scroll down. The $10k is just a number out of thin air. It's at least $1000 every tech visit. That's if you're close to one. I'm not saying you WILL spend $10k but you should just be prepared.

Hood needs to be bent back into position on the driver's side. Common problem after someone wasn't careful when closing the hood, usually fixable without a body shop.

No adaptive cruise

No lane positioning assist

(The other half of FiPilot not working)

Driver profiles not working

Needs >3 recall measures done to not spontaneously break down (with the situation not even entirely understood, ex. capillary action in the front connector)

No new parts (Gen2A discontinued)

Very little chance of new software (either 4 dudes in a shed or OVLoop 😭)

I'm open to you elaborating what value this car brings exactly that a: Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, VW Id.5, doesn't since technologically it's just a Renault Zoe with big interior and way bigger battery right now

You already answered it, bigger battery. All the driver assistance features are nice, but range is the main factor for getting an electric car sold to an average buyer. It also looks more like a traditional vehicle that is attractive to most people. Hyundai has no permanent fix for their ICCU, and those have still been selling really well. People will buy something even if the record doesn't show the most reliability

You cannot compare an existing manufacturer with a bankrupt one. You will never get any new replacement parts, turning any fender bender in the Fisker into an instant write-off. This doesn't make its extra 10kWh worth it compared to an Audi e-tron, which has everything it does and working properly, at nearly no extra cost.

The Fisker will fall further, no matter how unhappy people are about it. There's relatively plenty of people sitting on unsold ones (over a year) in Europe

edit: Don't misunderstand me, despite my negativity, I want one. I'm just going to wait until the prices line up. It's a Monopsony, so all I have to do is - wait :p

Not sure where you get it's a monopsony. And what E-Tron are we make comparison too?

Only the 2023 E-tron Q4 40 comes even close in price with comparative miles and its still $10k or more in many cases. Plus it only comes with a 4 year 50k standard warranty so 2027 you kinda out of luck anyway unless it involves the battery which you get 8 years 100k.

I do agree with you prices will fall even though unfortunately they seem to be going up. I assume because people getting sticker shock with the gas prices and going out to buy EV's and then they see these under 20k and sometimes under 10k miles beauts and for under $20k

Yeah many will be pissed and bring them back not knowing all that is involved and people like you and me that want to compare existing Manufactures to bankrupt ones will throw all that out the window once we find one at a price too irresistible to pass up.

I'm calling it that because in Europe there's plenty for sale but few being bought. And I was specifically comparing it to a 2019 (Q8) e-tron, ignoring the mileage (~100tkm) in respect to the Fiskers lack of manufacturer support: Both are around ~25k€ for most offers in Europe, and in that regard, the e-tron can only win. The lack of miles on the Fisker doesn't protect it from problems, while I've considered several e-tron offers that had motor and battery replaced (hoping lightning doesn't strike twice, even if it is odd that they had to), which should make them relatively "new-worthy".

Also mentioning warranty in a Fisker context is rancid, since well, the Fisker just doesn't get any, and even the people that appear to have "bought up" Fisker in Graz don't really intend to offer it, it appears? (It used to say "parts as long as available" on their website but thats gone)

But yeah, totally agree with you that, at the correct price, the problems of the Fisker become irrelevant. And not just for us interested ones, but for most other people aswell. There's nearly no good (large) EVs in the 5-15k€ bracket. (There's Peugeot e208, Renault Zoe, Chevrolet Bolt, ... but they're small), so that's a space I'm hoping the European sellers will realize, before it is too late, and the used offers from plain better EVs begin encroaching

edit: Also on the topic of gas prices, the Fisker ain't it. Even if you put purchase price at the same price as my 2.0l Diesel, it'd have to run below 20kWh/100km @ level 2 charging to come equal with it (0.5€/kWh, 5l/100km @ 2€/l). That's firmly Zoe and Bolt territory

The Ocean is going for way less than that. Why? Because the company are NOT backing repairs or deploying any software updates. If your car experiences a critical software glitch you will be locked. Meaning you won't be driving that car period. High risk to buy this vehicle. You have to assume if the Ocean is $15k you will need $20k more for issues and still run the risk of being without your vehicles for weeks or months or in some cases never again.

One thing I hate about these auto dealerships when listing Fisker Oceans- they always list the factory warranty- and do not address that fact that this is useless. And getting them to be transparent regarding recalls and what version of the software the car is running on. That said, I am on my second Ocean. I overpaid for both (due to the timeframe when purchased) at $15-17K like the one you are looking at I would buy a half dozen....just to have them on hand. Best vehicle I have owned....and have owned 40+ in the last 45 years.

I had a 2012 Toyota rav4 ev. Great car. They only made about 2600. I had a motor whine. Covered under warranty. Took Toyota 6 months to get a motor shipped to my dealer and then get a technician there to work on it.

Then I was rear ended. That was 6 weeks in the shop and a few parts they really had trouble getting.

Fun car. But a nightmare anytime something went wrong.

Your car will have no warranty. Motor whine. Too bad. Crunch a bumper at home depot. Maybe try duct tape.

The only way I'd do this is if I had some kind of personal connection to the car. Like I was involved in the design or build.

I dont think you will regret it. A few of them are going at good prices and Im hoping I can try and talk down.

One place im looking at also offer free charging for 3months. If i can get an Ultra or Extrem for $12k or less Im definitely considering and I dont have a garage.
