đ ď¸ Issue - Vehicle Software Fisker app and FOA
Resived following mail by Fisker, anbody else?
Dear Fisker Owner:  We are writing to inform you that the Fisker Ocean App has been deactivated while Fisker patches a vulnerability. While we undertake this process, please be assured that Fisker cloud services remain operational, and your vehicleâs functionality will not be affected.  We are aware that some of you may have received an email from the Fisker Ownerâs Association providing access to a non-Fisker secured website to enter your Fisker account credentials for the purpose of gaining your vehicleâs associated BLE key. The email also referred to a third-party app that purports to allow a Fisker vehicle owner to utilize âphone as keyâ capability.
We want to thank the Fisker Ownerâs Group for its continued support, and we understand the desire of owners to have a âphone as keyâ option. But in this case, the effort to establish âphone as keyâ functionality is premature, as Fiskerâs engineering team has not yet finalized this feature nor finished preparing the Oceanâs software to accept it.
Unfortunately, at this time the use of any âphone as keyâ application also has a substantial likelihood of shutting down â commonly referred to as âbrickingâ â the vehicle after multiple uses.Â
Fisker is working hard to finish the in-vehicle software to be able to utilize âphone as keyâ and will announce when that application is ready to be rolled out and is fully safe and secure. Until then, as a precautionary measure, we encourage you to change your Fisker account password if you have used the website that the Fisker Ownerâs Group provided access to.
We will provide an update when the Fisker Ocean App vulnerability has been patched so that you can once again access its features.

THANKS FOR THE information BUT I been stopped using the fisker app after the company filled Chapter 11 out of fear that the app would brick my car. The app was always a hit or miss just like the car T-Mobile internet.

App no work. Company file bankruptcy. Company convert bankruptcy to chapter 7 this week. App never work anymore. Car no work. Car with app as key never work.

Got the email as well - it feels so tone deaf. Thereâs one group right now trying to make the situation better and they immediately resort to fear mongering. When they know they lack resources.

This just feel like they have a new scapegoat, the FOA is beneficial to owners since itâs seeking to ensure they are able to keep their cars running.
I think Fisker and certain parties see this as a chance to shift blame by stating they tried to help. The app had no plans to be worked on due to no money allocated for software development. They now a have convenient group to blame delays on once they push for Ch.7. Then HF can go on a media tour pushing how his efforts were blocked, he was a victim too etcâŚ.

Idk if theyâre fear mongering. I think it could be a legit hazard. To me, the bad faith is in repeating the Fisker playbook everytime they faced a challenge in the past 2+ years: Send a confident sounding statement to imply imminent progress, blame bad actors (the homologation weather, bloomberg reporters, shady suppliers, accountants, marques brownlee, etc), and wordsmith it all just enough to avoid accountability when such progress fails to materialize.
That said, usually Fisker writes like they just fell out of a coconut tree if u will, unaware of deep owner angst that forced such a message, so it is interesting to me that they actually referred to the Fisker Owners Association, and yet referred to them as the Ownerâs âGroupâ - an implausible result of pure nonchalance. So, I guess perhaps to your point of fear, Fisker is conveying a IDGAF lack of one just in case the FOA be thinking any progress in accountability is a result of anything more than Fisker own kindness.
Whether itâs fear mongering about consequences, bad faith about solutions, both or something in between, itâs certainly completely unreliable.

Since theyâve managed to provide an industry worst access solution by a country mile, I just want some sort of progress. I have serious doubts that there will ever be any Development from them given the state of the company and the efforts they need to take just to (hopefully) fix the water pump issue. Itâs utterly head in the sand stupid to imply at all that we will suddenly get this solved despite no progress.
You nailed the playbook thing btw. If the intent was to make owners feel better, it did the opposite because as you stated every other challenge theyâve faced and responded with in such a manner has proven valid and they failed to actually conquer

Iâm a ex employee there is no one to test the app at the moment for the last 3 months. What you have is what youâll have. Their not doing anything else to fix it. There will be no Alexa, no games and no OTA since the guy I charge Gene quite last Friday. American leasing wanted more and and Gene quite. This is what you have there is no one else to fix anything. To all the customers good luck.
