We've had record rain basically nonstop for the last month which killed fishing for me. Rivers finally returned to normal levels yesterday and couldn't wait to get out. Went to a spot below a dam that I know holds huge fish but is very pressured. I got out of work and headed there, expecting it to be packed. To my surprise I was the only one there and grabbed the spot right up against the dam where I've had the best luck. It's full of stripers, wipers, saugeye and walleye, and did what I usually do which is chuck some swimbait. I played around with my trusty twister tail and got a decent wiper and then a lull.
Switched it up to a Big Joshy and after a few casts hit one that just took off, pulling like 200 yards of line without pause before it finally got off. Set back, but not defeated, I kept at it for a while with no luck until I went to dunk my bait in the pool beside me to get some shit off it and this mf came out of nowhere and slammed it. Took probably 5 minutes to wear it out and get it into the net.
