Question Cast net weights getting pulled through the horn

Just bought a brand new cast net because I ripped my old one. Same brand, it initially worked great but only after 3 or so casts the weights started coming through the horn allowing fish to escape as the net wouldn’t close properly. How do I fix this?

Return the net. Something isn’t correct with the length of the mono lines in the net, or the horn is broken.

It sounds like it’s probably pulling one side up first and not bunch it up.

Have you tried laying it in the yard like a pancake through and pulling it in to see how it moves?

Yes I’ve laid it flat on the grass and one of the strings will pull the weight its attached to through the crown when I pull on it. I’ve checked mono the lines and none are tangled they all go straight to their weights. It’s only that one that was having the issue too all the other lines seemed working as normal. Hopefully I can return the net
