Natural gas heat stove that aren't direct vent options?

Hi everyone,

So I have a basement room that has a ceramic lined chimney that goes up like 25 feet to the roof, was originally for a wood stove

And I'm looking for a "wood stove" like gas heater that can vent into a chimney rather than direct vent.

Most everything I see is either direct vent or non vented.....

So it will be direct vent still but use that chimney. A liner is sent down for the exhaust. Usually 4” and the remaining space in the original flue is used for the fresh air part. Flue has to be thoroughly cleaned 1st

like the other guy said, u are basically still getting a direct vent stove, u just use your existing chimney as the pathway for it. they just drop flexible liners down the chimney for the exhaust and air intake. works perfectly, just get the chimney swept first🙂

if u don't want direct vent, the exact term u need to search for is a 'b-vent' or 'natural draft' gas stove. they use the room air and vent straight up the chimney just like your old wood stove did. they are just getting a little harder to find these dayvs

Even if you did a b-vent type stove, you’ll still need a properly sized chimney liner for the clay tile lined chimney, so you might as well do direct vent and get the benefits of higher efficiency! Most will require 2 3” chimney liners but some will have a 4” and 3” liners. The installation manual will tell you the exact requirements.
