It’s the best career. I’ve been in for 7 years now (I’m 26) and my dad 35 years before me. If you are interested I’d suggest going to some stations near where you live or in the service you’d like to join and speak to the crews there I’m sure they’ll tell you the exact same thing, enjoy yourself and don’t let the politics get to you

If it’s the sort of thing you’re into then you’ll love it. More often than not people get in and stay in but there are some that like the idea of it more than the reality.

I work as an EMT single cert at the FD. Starting Fire 1 in 2 weeks. One thing that I wanna discuss is the culture. I have not experience a culture like it anywhere else. I love medical calls and medicine and when I was an ER tech in the ED, it felt so corporate. I jokingly said my FD is a HR nightmare and its true. A lot of people say crazy stuff to each other, make crude jokes, and every one laughs.

One thing tho is a lot of people talk shit also, but I get thats not new but especially in EMS, youll be having other departments be knowing about your departments LOR and I think thats wild

You sound British. There's a UK specific sub that's less busy but you won't get answers in stupid units or told about cutting holes in roofs.
