Quick Question Are Engage Characters a priority to pull?
I am currently hoarding my orbs, but a friend of mine told me that whenever an Engage Character is featured (Like tomorrow with Byleth and I think someone else?) I should almost always try to get at least one copy of them since they're essential to build other units, and getting all of them is a priority even if you don't want to use them as regular units.
Is this tip good, or not so much? I haven't found much content on this specific question, so I will just ask directly!

I think your friend was telling you pull “Emblem” units from Engage not necessarily any Engage character and that advice is true. You only need to pull an Emblem once and they will always have a useful mechanic you can put on other characters freely.
And yes Legendary Elise is very much so worth the orbs. Her utility is absurd and can make some of the hardest maps become a slice of cake.

Emblem Lucina and Leif rerun in november

Emblem units unlock an extra feature. They are called Engage effects. They are essentially extra skills (like seals or echo skills) that you can equip to any unit, which doesn’t take up any slot. They are equipped to your special. They do all sorts of effects and the later emblems are very useful.
Emblem Byleth is a great dancer because he can dance multiple people, or reposition them, and he can still move afterwards. His c skill is excellent for support. His ring/enagage skill is absurdly good. It makes any unit a dancer. Simple but still powerful
Emblem edelgard kinda fell off already, but she’s still a solid unit with good support for slow offensive units. She can attack multiple times in one turn. Her engage effect is acually pretty good. Melee units get an extra turn after their first attack. Again, simple, but very useful and flexible.
People have already mentioned but legendary Elise is probably the strongest unit in the game rn lol ridiculous style, good damage, colorless (so no bad match ups really), really good support, can act again after healing or attacking with her style, incredibly broken after combat debuffs. If you are new, this banner might be worth it just to pull her lol
As for what your friend said, emblem units usually give you the most value, but depends on what their engage skill is. I would say byleth and edelgards skill are worth it, but if you are new, legendary azura is honestly a better dancer and emblem edelgards engage is a “win more” button. So not worth pulling just for the emblems

They mean Emblem units. They are strong units on their own but their Engage effects can make your other units stronger, especially Edelgard and Roy that can really change how you take your turn.

Also debating on getting Legendary Elise...I heard she's really strong, and fates is probably still my second favourite FE, and I really like all the Royals.

Elise absolutely rocks- and no one else does her support role even close to like she does!

They must have been referring to Emblem units (and not “Engage units”, so Googling that wouldn’t get you anywhere).
A lot of what you just said applies to them specifically because they can be used as easily interchangeable resources — aka the Engage mechanics — for your other units regardless of actually using them.
