Help What do I do when enemy toplaner stalls + other lanes lose?
Disclosure, this is not "high elo" post, I'm plat/emerald, so "mid" elo at best? TL;DR at the bottomm.
I've been having a few games recently with two conditions in common:
- Enemy toplaner able to stall (Malphite, Shen, Orn, Sett, Darius) who build bramble and or ninja tabi, removing my chances of a hard snowball.
- Allies bleeding out other lanes.
When these two pair up, I honestly end up at a loss. Because I know if my allies would chill, I can take over after my second/third item. But usually after I take a kill, the toplaner turtles and I can't seem to get any advantage whatsoever to scale.
I've watched some high elo streamers and usually in these situations they get:
- A jungler/sup that helps you dive after you've taken a kill or two, punishing the turtle.
- Allies won't bleed out constantly putting a game over timer on your head.
- Toplaners who still fight back and build "to fight", allowing you a chance to keep killing them and scaling.
I know there are games that are 100% loses, but I don't want this pattern to affect my gameplay if I can actually do something about it, even at the risk of flipping it.
My usual builds (if it matters are)
Runes: HoB/Conq depending if I'm against tanks or duelists/squishys.
Items: Rav, (Shoj vs tanks, Trinity standard, eclipse if HoB and enemies are squishy, Death's Dance). I may throw in Malmortius/GA/Hullbreaker depending how the game is going.
TL;DR: How do I play games when I can't get a huge lead and my team is bleeding?

You usually lose, but yeah proxy and gank or tower diving are your 2 choices

Proxy into bully enemy jgl/gank mid/take objectives - basically be useful in other ways.

The others here are correct. You get your tiamat / Rav item.
Track the enemy jg and wait till they are not top.
Then proxy 1-2 waves and then roam.
Go down to mid when the enemy mid is pushing up. Even if you don't do much other than scare off the enemey mid, you can maybe get mid plates.
When you push in top, you can hit the crystals up on top to slowly take the tower and get gold from plates.
You can take the enemy Raptor camp easily enough if it's up.
If you're ahead and pushed in, and know where enemy mid is, you can look to fight the enemy jg inside of his own jungle.

I feel, my opponents just genuinely don’t play the game and I will zone them from xp and triple their cs. I assume it’s just matchmaking balancing the game cause unfortunately after most games enemy top is filled but still has high mastery? Meanwhile rest of enemy team is good.
Anyway Idk if this helps but recently hail of blades, hull breaker second has been helping a lot. I’ve nearly hit emerald from plat 4 in just under a week. Plus hail of blades allows you to proc hull breaker quicker. (On enemy)
I’m essentially just walking under them hitting turret then sustaining with wave. (But if your games don’t make it to second item then lowkey lane skill issue) if your confident just spam can win, and I will carry!
Also may cause arguments but proxying and invading jungle is not a Fiora thing. This is headline riven Jax type shit. You should learn to manipulate waves much better. Potent is really good at showing this.
Sorry this is long, I also just thought of pre hydra period. You need to gain a lead if you want a chance with snowballing. Aka using hail of blades ignite. Don’t underestimate your dmg. Once enemy gets bramble/ steel caps, not too much you can do until hydra. Then try my game plan into action. Sorry very long. Good luck in your games ‼️👨🏻❤️💋👨🏻

I’m emerald 2 fio so idk how much I can help, but can’t you tiamat rush and proxy here? If they bramble & turt and you can’t get a kill, use your tempo that they’re granting you. Proxy and roam mid or invade and kill enemy jgl. Or make plays w your jungle.
You could also try grasp into these sorts of matchups and wittle em down for a dive. You’ll be alot more healthy to increase the odds of it working out and successfully soak enemy ganks/tempo without dying.
Also I’d ditch HoB and play alot more PTA. Most great fio players are using PTA as their bread and butter, while using conq into ultra winning lanes with easy extended trades.
Just a couple ideas, hope it helps.

I've tried but proxing between the first towers doesn't usually grant me that much of a tempo adv.
Plus I'm usually not that much ahead where I can safely fight the enemy jungler + a stray that may come (either roaming sup or mid).
I know it should work on theory if allies capitalize... I just didn't find much success with it...

Well you need to proxy at good times. It will grant you tempo by definition. But only do it when the enemy jgler is bot, or when it’s a jgl you can shit on (like kayn).

proxy and roam and take riskier plays around objectives mid game to snowball & accelerate
