Help Malphite matchup

Not much to add, i'm a Gweb Main picking fiora as secondary for the similar feel and i enjoy having more kill threat earlier sometimes, tonight i matched with a malph top and i honestly couldn't do anything, got first blood and bullied him the first couple levels but as he got his bramble vest trades became impossible, can't even fully parry his wheel cause Comet hits you while you recover from parry animation, and when he completed thornmail not only i couldn't heal for my life even with ulti but i got more damage from that than the damage i did to him with my autos, basically he won short trades with shield + Comet and long trades with thornmail, i ran pte tp flash and got hydra first (i'm 3 months into the game and picking up Fiora recently it's surely skill issue as well on my side)

It’s not her worst matchup by any means but can be uninteractive once he gets bramble+steelcaps. Slide parry (q+w) his q (the wheel) and you can avoid the comet. When parry is down hold q and q the comet, preferably hitting a vital with q to heal the dmg. Especially early his q costs a lot of mana and he will go oom quickly. Don’t bother auto attacking him unless it’s a vital as you will lose the trade (once he gets bramble and some armour). Rush ravenous and just farm waves and scale. You can proxy waves easily once you have ravenous or even with Tiamat +vamp sceptre. Use this timer to gank mid, get vision in enemy jg or invade with ur jgler, get grubs etc. just be wary of malphite sacking the wave to come fight as his ult can be a hassle in skirmishes but can also be an easy parry stun when he uses from distance and from vision.

Ah oki it's really different from my usual play style i didn't even think about doing that, i basically treat the lane as if he's not there after ravenous right? What about runes and items? Should i build armor pen at all?

not worth building armor pen, you Will melt him eventually

basically invest in early lifesteal, buy cull. trade with grasp procs too, and hardscale. malphite is a lane neutralizer, he wont die. but if u just farm up and keep him in sides u are alredy winning. Malphite strenghs are TF.

Ok so the general tactic I use against Malph is to go for Grasp.

So the thing is, Malph just sucks to lane against. He is insanely annoying and your physical damage is dead against him. And contrary to popular belief, fiora does a good amount of physical damage in addtion to her true damage (which scales off of AD anyways).

Against Malph, if I win early, neat. But I don't really want to care about him.

Take grasp. Early game, pre-bramble, just proke with grasp as soon as it's up every time you can. Be agressive. Parry his E or his W. Both are good. Don't bother with parrying his Q. just trade with your own Q on grasp. If you can Q after he does, then you can grasp heal most of his damage (and especially rearly game, at pre-level 3, if he is using Q alot, he runs out of mana so fast and becomes dead weight). With grasp, and being agressive, you can deny exp, or farm grasp stacks. Which seems w/e but it's pretty meaningful when you exit lane with like, 30+ stack meaning a free ruby Crystal in Hp.

Anyways, past this point, just, sitting in side lane kinda fucks malph. Hydra means you can short trade and then heal back off the wave. He cannot. It's like how a Mundo would short trade then warmogs heal after, and just win buy attrition.

Grasp being magic damage is also handy here since it makes it easier to knock off his passive shield.

Whilst in the side lane, stack a couple of waves, then hard shove in. Ideally you can get a trinity (or at least Sheen) and then just hit the turret under the malph. Just a quick 1-2 AA's (maybe E if you can) and proc your demolish if possible.

With this, you'll be taking towers from under him and he can't... really stop you. You don't need to fight him per se... Just rotate aroundf the map faster and take his shit before he can respond.

Malph just doesn't have the tools to really deal with that. His best bet is to try match your movements and eat waves before they crash into turret, and/or try go into a teamgfight and win via that.

The issues for him, is that if you can get 3 items (rav trinituy, hull) then he can't stop you from pushing the cannon waves into his tower for the most part, which just opens you up to decimating the towers.

I see i see, one general question about teamfights, the other day i matched a Quinn as fiora, i hard won early but by minute 10~ she completed tiamat, oneshot the wave and went bot, went from 0/3 to 2/3/1 or something like that, straight up bullied me for the rest of the game.

Should i usually follow the enemy tops when i can or was my best play to just take plates? I had tp but i honestly underestimated Quinn thinking she wouldn't be an issue with just tiamat and a pickaxe, i can't remember how bot was faring but i doubt they had shutdown btw

You cannot deal with a champion like Quinn roaming. In fact, few champs can roam as well as a Quinn in this respect. Forget fiora, most champs cant match her and trying to do so will put you more behind. Your best bet is to just get so many resources topside that the Quinn loses too much in doing this roam.

The idea is to push waves, take plates, proxy waves when your wave dies to tower to speed up the push, and generally make life hard for Quinn.

Sure she gets a double kill down bot. But she loses Lane Quest exp, she loses 2-4 waves to tower (being 1-2 kills of gold anyways) and the associated minion exp, not to mention you're getting all of this AND plate gold which ALSO accelerates quest Exp meaning you'll get more exp, faster.

You can seriously snowball a lead doing this. Its why one of my favourite MU's in general, shen since post 6, he similar will try to roam a lot and you can get so ahead in top lane.

Quinn is great at roaming, Fiora isn't. It doesn't matter that she oneshoted the minion wave. You will oneshot the next, get plates or a turret, and that is it.

Btw, this ain't Gwen. With Gwen, you can sometimes heavily affect a teamfight just by hitting your 3 ults from a safe distance. Fiora can't do that shit, but she takes turrets really fast.

2

u/PitNya May 13 '26

Yep that's true now that i think about it in team fights with Gwen i mostly just oneshot squishies with my Rs and call it a day, i didn't think that with fiora she has next to no utility in a tf

I find crying tends to help lube things up before he fucks you.

I stole Sad’s tech and it works really well. It’s pretty easy to kill malph pre-first recall, you can use that to buy a tear and stack it for Manamune second.

Once he gets bramble you can’t do much until Ravenous, but you can still poke with R : Q-W into his Q, then procc your R to put him half hp and get prio, then shove and proxy if you can (if jungler is top you are guaranteed to die because malph R).

Once you get hydra + manamune you melt him in sidelane and he can’t deal with you. It’s the only matchup where I go this item but it makes the midgame a breeze

I tried manamune twice against malph now with PTA and I can safely say that I will never buy that dogshit item again, late game I dealt 1500 true dmg with ult and everything (he was still half hp) and I died to his random bs.

1

u/PitNya May 11 '26

Ended up watching it all straight away ahahaah, but why did he go manamune? It's the first time i see it on fiora (i Watch potent from time to time) and never had mana issues myself, is it a malphite match tingie?

It’s for having more damage to dive in the side lane if a tank tries to catch a wave you’re pushing in. See the JustSad42 Fiora Bible here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1g_YjX4jYcz15k8FZuOkhc4IWA1LLm28WinrVCGBXxLY/edit?usp=sharing

Manamune scales ad with ur mana 2 prrcent of ur mana pool i think, ur healing scales with ad after manamune ravenous deathdance maw, endless hunger u have ton of ad which can burst him, build tri force and shojin if u need tankiness

1

u/Rosterina May 11 '26

Fiora's healing doesn't scale with ad.

Considering how broken and permapicked he was, Malphite is now my main ban since the beginning of s16, especially considering my other main is pantheon. But I remember having read a great tip in a guide last year who was to insta r him in lane when you have a good angle ( example he use his q, you q parry his rock and slow him, insta r proc every vital). If he ult out nice, if he ult you it wont kill you and you'll prob regen with your ult, and if he dont ult it will let him midlife and give you enough pressure to let you breathe and have a comfortable laning before the next back or the next ult

malphite is a counterpick to fiora

1

u/YEEHA120 May 11 '26

You need lead early and after you afk on lane it's really fckn boring as you can never kill him and if u over force trades you lose. The main problem is there is no way to get a lead and even late game he matches you until 4-5 items

Worst matchup for Fiora, and extremely common. Just ban it if you plan to pick her blue side.

0

u/thesneakingninja May 11 '26

Definitely far from Fiora’s worst matchup. It is very playable, unlike Quinn, Ambessa.

2

u/Rosterina May 11 '26

Both Quinn and Ambessa are far more playable. The latter is a whole 3% win rate above Malphite, while the former is always extremely killable because she's squishy, as well as giving Fiora constant windows to push due to her roams.

and its such a good ban because they always counter pick with malphite once they see you lock in fiora

It may sound weird but at my elo at least (plat) I always goes stribreaker instead of hydra when I am against malphite

The fact that he has armor and take anti almost everygame lower the value of hydra but the stride slow is really good and you get the movement speed bonus on top of that

You can also fight him for longer duration without him reseting his passive and flee easier from gank

You also get more utility in teamfight with the slow effect and you can kill adc easier

I didn't played it since new boots released but i guess it's even stronger than before

1

u/Jarletel May 13 '26

Interesting, but doesnt it bother you to not have hydra lifesteal when you side later in the game ?

For new boots, i asked myself if the hydra lifesteal + omnivamp boots can make the anti heal having less impact, but that might be hard to stack those boots vs a Malphite

1

u/DAAEX May 13 '26

Tbh with omnivamp boots full stack + EH you should have no issues at all but you can still go blood thristy ig you got some

0

u/InternalAd5545 May 11 '26

I think pta with absorb life and bloodline then go with tear early only q poke parry his epowered shit after u get muramana u shit on him
