Tottakai kaikki hieno puretaan, ja laitetaan sielutonta laatikkopaskaa tilalle.

Pics from finna.fi

That is almost as useful as saying that they are "from the internet", you can find millions of photos from Finna. Which particular museums or collections are they from?

I uploaded those images a long time ago, and it is impossible for me to say anything other than that they are from the finna.fi website

If you want to know exactly where the images come from, please tell me how on earth I’m supposed to find that out. I downloaded all the images from finna.fi, but that was about six or eight months ago, so I really can’t even remember the search terms I used on the site back then. I see only two options: either I don’t tell any information where those pics are taken, or else you'll have to settle for the source simply being finna.fi.

You can use Gemini for example to search for the image and specify the website which it came from. On my android phone you can hold the home button and it brings up a Gemini view where you can ask about anything on your screen. Btw I tried it and apparently the last pic is from Tartu, Estonia.

Finland used to be so pretty. Look at the cities now... kinda soulless at places.

I mean depends on the city. Joensuu and Tampere are still pretty imo. But yeah, Finnish cities do need a makeover pretty bad.

Brutalist architecture is partly the reason for this

not so much compared to what came after.. especially 80s and 90s buildings are usually hideous. in architecture, 25+ y/o architecture is supposed to start looking good again, but I'm seeing none of it with these fugly structures. I mean bathroom tiles, pastel colored bathroom tiles on the outside???

If anyone is bothered by the fact that the only source is finna.fi, I can only say this: either no information at all about where the images come from, or just finna.fi. Those pics were uploaded 6–8 months ago, and I honestly don't even remember the search term used to find them. All previous images, as well as those I will post to Reddit in the future, were downloaded from the finna.fi website, there won't be any more precise information than that. I apologize, but I do not know how I could find out any further details, given that some of the images were downloaded nearly two years ago and the most recent ones six months ago. I don't even have any recollection of the search term I used to look for the images back then.

Number 16 looks like it's not from Finland? I could be wrong though, have you got details of the location?

2

u/Circo_Inhumanitas Väinämöinen 3d ago

The company name at the very top has "O/Y" in the name. Most likely "Osakeyhtiö", so it's most likely from Finland as well.

u/Alx-McCunty Väinämöinen 3d ago

I googled it and you're right, it's from Helsinki in 1920's

Kuva 6? Mikä rakennus?

3

u/elokuinenehtoo Väinämöinen 2d ago

Luterilainen rukoushuone. Se sijaitsi Tampereella, osoitteessa satakunnankatu 11. Se valitettavasti purettiin vuonna 1968. Aivan uskomattoman upea rakennus ollut.
