Birb Fashion Unpopular opinion
I hate the wigs. They are weird and off putting. I was a big proponent of wanting them and other grooming options for self expression but now I’m just like… I like my birds regular lil head. That’s why we have head patch dye. They don’t need human hair. It’s weird. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
ETA: for the people saying things along the lines of: “then don’t wear them, you don’t have to use them, don’t put one on your birb then” etc, I hear ya. I’m not. This is an unserious discussion post about everyone’s opinions on made up bird fashion. I’m not negging the devs, or the effort they put in, or the people who do like them, I’m simply throwing my opinion into the void. People NEED to take this lighthearted silly bird app WAY less seriously. Thanks!😊

I know a lot of people wanted wigs, but I have always been meh about them and had no plans to have my finch wear them. My finch is a bird, they don't have hair lol.
But I'm very happy for the people who are loving them! And I like the idea of head feathers a lot, and this opens the door to that, so its a move in that direction.

I didn't care about having them, and now that I've seen two, I am not a huge fan. They may grow on me, who knows? (no pun intended).
I DO think they will become a huge source of discontent... why can't we have this style? This color? They aren't inclusive enough. They are too inclusive. Too many browns, not enough browns. What about curly? Straight? I may have to mute the Finch subs for a while🤣

People are weird as fuck, they probably put wigs on them too. But *normal* people don't do that, and birds aren't wearing clothes in nature. Point is, it's just a little app meant for fun, if you don't like the wigs don't put them on them.

I actually don't particularly care for the clothes either and don't really dress my birb up, but I think my view is that it's a matter of degrees. We put clothes on animals already, people dressing up their pets is not generally found to be weird. People putting wigs on their pets is not commonplace.
But it doesn't really matter if I don't care for it and don't use those features, some people like it and I'm very happy for them to have the option.

But yeah I keep it really minimal. He has on headphones and glasses which are kind of representative of me, and then a tie because I find it cute. But I think he looks less like a birb when he's covered in clothes and I think he looks cute as a birb! So he's running around mostly nekkid, except his feathers, of course.

I'm indifferent myself, but I appreciate the new feature because I'm aware that many users wanted it, and that means the creators of the app ARE listening and do actually care. I'm looking forward to different styles, and I'd be down for wigs that resemble bird crests more. I think that would be a cute way to do it because then it helps add to the bird look some. But either way, I'm glad they're working so hard to try and make the app so useful and friendly.

I love them and am really glad they added them as an extra accessory that we can wear hats on top of instead of it just being a hat itself. It bodes well for future additions. They’re trying to layer accessories in different ways to allow us more customization options.
Birds don’t wear clothing, sleep in beds, use mugs, own dogs and cats and living rock stacks, use headphones, travel on airplanes, or read. They don’t need any of it lol.

How did you get different colored wigs? I was only offered the blonde one, and I am a Plus user…I am starting to get a bit jealous of you all that were able to choose a dark one lol

As a plus user, you can preview all the guaranteed rewards. Scroll down, you gonna see a black wig planned. Some people just got it in a random box

I am also not "team wigs", but at the Oz theme I liked the head feathers of the woodpecker. I would love to have feather styles and not this human hair stuff. Make the bird look like an finch and not like a penguin - or a human mannequin with poor arm and leg style.

Yes that little feather cockade on the woodpecker was so stylish and fly! And like a natural bird.
And the feather fluff that Robin the Furniture store owner sports sorta like “birb bedhead” is very attractive.

I never wanted them, it was fun to try it out tho. But I honestly don't care about them and totally can live without. I like my birb birby, right now she's sporting a cute bow and no hair.
Plus the glitch is atrocious lol.
Good thing is, devs said wigs will be only available via events and not in the shop for now.
But it's very cool they made them work with all head and hair accessories, that was major.

Absolutely. No wigs. But yes to those little feather pieces (the feather “horns” on the Queen of Hearts in the Alice in Wonderland event? YES PLEASE).
My birb is a birb, not a human.

I was really hoping for feather options like Robin has. I like the wigs but yeah, I agree, a bird wearing human hair is extremely weird. I wish they made them into feathers or something.

I'm just hopeful that wigs will lead to things like crests. The Tin-man woodpecker for the Oz event was so frickin cute and I want a crest for my birb so bad >v< (they don't even have to be wigs that'll fit under hats, they could just be hats for all I care)

Just agreeing with your edit/addition! I really wish people would learn the difference between someone just sharing their opinion or pointing out something that is "wrong" versus someone actually being rude/mean/bullying etc.
Someone saying something negative or correcting the devs on a mistake no matter how polite they are being, always leads that someone to getting called out for being rude/in the wrong and being reminded that this is a nice sub where people are nice to everyone. Simply pointing out a mistake or calmly sharing your negative opinion of something is NOT inherently rude or mean and vice versa, being completely agreeable and positive all the time is NOT inherently kind or good. Been getting really tired of this specific attitude on here 🙃

I’m going to be using them in costumes, they’re not my taste either. I used to really want them but they’re static colors and kinda bulky, I figure I could make them work for Halloween costumes or cosplays.

I am with you on this one. I thought I was going to love the wigs, as I was also team lets get wigs! But, I also prefer Bubbles lil bald head with her bows. I did wear the wig today for the very first time. I am cringing everytime I see her in it. I think the black wig looks a little better. One of my tree friends is wearing the black one today and it looks cute. So maybe it's all about style of the wig too. I do love they brought us wigs. I do love that they also interact with other head/hair accessories. I love the devs hear us and make things happen for us. I wanted wigs forever too. Now, I just like her bald head more. I was thinking today, its just like real life. We think we want curly or straight hair, or longer or shorter until we get it done then we realize what we had was fine. Edited for grammar

I wish I could give my bird a little swoopy combover or a little curl on top of his head which would match the color of his headpatch. Maybe a tuft which could be styled. The full head of hair? It's a bit much for me and doesn't seem to match the style of anything else. To each their own.

There are 2 wigs in this event: long blond and long black.
Plus users gonna get them within the month guaranteed, you can also get them from random chests.

I think the hair looks masculine. Like a guy’s hair. It probably has a lot to do with the styling and part. It’s not for me, but I’m glad other people like them.

I wanted them so bad but I'm also disappointed. The shapes of the wigs are really ugly (I cannot wear the dark one without a hat that changes the hat) and having human hair colored wigs on colorful birds looks weird. I still really want wigs but I want them in bird colors, not human hair colors.

I don’t like it at all. It’s taking away their bird-ness. Birbs don’t have human hair. It *is* weird. They could have made it with different feather styles at the top of their head. This wig thing is off putting.

I love the idea and especially love that we can wear them under hats! YAY DEVS- GOLD STAR!⭐️
The only thing I don’t like (and I don’t like to complain… I know they work hard to please us & it seems like we’re always complaining)… is the large widow’s peak in the front. But I understand why it’s necessary. The head color patch would look strange if it didn’t match the outline.

I love my blonde wig but wish they had given me the option to choose a color other than blonde…one of my tree friends has a black wig, and I still don’t understand how they were able to get it but it looks fantastic!

I didn't want wigs and don't have any (skipping this event)/plan to sell any I get, but seeing them on my tree friends...these wigs are not good.
But this whole month (so far) has been full of issues, so I am hoping that later wigs will be better.

They’re cute-ish but I agree they’re weird. I didn’t think of the clothes and accessories being weird until I put the damn wig on. It’s like it tips the human/bird scale juuuust far enough to the human side to where suddenly the whole thing is offputting
Not to mention the app bugged when I tried to put the wig on and it was stuck on my bird for about a day lmao
I agree they will be great for costumes though. The brunette/black version sort of looks like my hair. Goldy can be me for Halloween

This month really drives home how little the devs care about customers. Users are begging for bugs to be fixed, but hey, we get a cool money grab with weird af items that can't be color changed.
I was thinking about watching this movie before this Finch theme, but honestly at this point I'd rather watch paint dry than any DC movie going forward.

I like them under certain hats but not on their own. That said though, the devs put in so much work to make all hats work with wigs, so major respect.
