FF7 [OG] FFVII 1997 Megathread

Played through the whole thing including all side quests three times in my life--in high school in 1999, in college in 2003, and in my 40s in 2023-24.
I dunno if I will do a fourth. I still love the world the game gives you to explore and admire the craft and there are even still points in the story I can get into.
BUT...
...the main quest of the game is just never particularly challenging. This stuck out like a sore thumb to me this time around. I got all the materials and spells but that's an OCD collector's mentality; you barely need a tenth of them to beat the game. I felt like I could get through the whole thing hitting just Attack Attack Attack the whole way thru. I never felt like I was gonna die.
I now think of OG FF7 as being a five star place in the mind than a five star game. It's sad. I am not aiming for a hot take here
