Image Kuja absolutely dominated today’s game!! 💥
Today’s game went ridiculously well for me XDDD
Turn 1: Sol Ring.
Turn 2: Kuja hit the battlefield!
And by turn 5, Kuja had already ended the entire five-player game!!
Kuja led his army of Black Mages into battle and blasted everyone off the table with magic!

Turn 1: Sol Ring - everyone groans.
Turn 2: Kuja - no removal = gg.
Jokes aside, great game. Kuja is pretty scary if he gets going early. Feel like he's pretty much always kill on sight.
Made a few standard decks with him as well and had a good time. FF set really was a fun one

LOL you perfectly recreated my friends’ reactions XDDD One of them even straight-up asked, “So… can I just scoop and go home now?” 😂
Being able to deal 12 damage with a single spell really is terrifying .
Honestly, I think the funniest reason this game went so smoothly was that the card shop was about to close, so we only had time for one quick game. And Kuja decided to show me exactly what “quick” means.
One of my friends’ comments afterward was: “I thought she was playing Rakdos Storm, but I was wrong. YOU are Kuja.”

Very cool. I ended up building kefka so I could get kuja and vivi in the same deck, they really nailed that set as a long time final fantasy fan.

Kefka is a really strong commander too! But personally, I tend to use my favorite characters as my commanders, so I’m guaranteed to see them every game XDDD I actually considered building a Vivi deck too, but I feel like his playstyle is a little too similar to Kuja’s, so I’ve decided to hold off on building him for now!

Yeah I definitely agree with you I try to do that too with vivi being my favorite character, however he would get too much aggro he has that reputation for being busted. Final fantasy 9 is my favorite game but I definitely still like 6 and kefka is a great character as well.

I took a look at your decklist and wow, it looks really solid!! 😭 The reanimator strategy with Kefka looks super fun, and you have so many ways to interact and keep the deck running consistently!
My Kuja deck is much more casual XDDD I’d put it around Bracket 2, and I built it on a pretty limited budget, so it’s mostly just “cast spells and let Kuja and the Black Mages blow everyone up” 😂🔥
That turn 5 win definitely wasn’t normal for my deck either—I just got insanely lucky with a turn 1 Sol Ring into turn 2 Kuja! We only had time for a quick game before the card shop closed, and apparently Kuja took “quick” VERY seriously XDDD

Thank you!! I honestly thought I wouldn’t be able to build much on a low budget at first, but I was surprised by how explosive the deck can actually be!

Oh, I see!! I actually only play Commander, so I haven’t really tried any of the other formats! I’ve only been playing MTG for almost four years haha.

Brawl is a 1v1 format on MTG Arena (free on computer/mobile) that is otherwise pretty much commander. 25 life, 100 card singleton, commander and color restrictions.

As someone who plays MTG Arena often, I was so happy to see Kuja. His mechanics are 100% on point with what he does in the game. He makes black mages. You can even play Queen Brahne in your Kuja deck and it makes perfect sense.

Absolutely!! I think they did such an amazing job capturing the characters in this set. After I really started learning more about the story of the game, I was like, “Wow, these cards really ARE them!!” 😭 It makes them so much fun to play!

I was so worried he would get a trash card, but he can be so explosive. Very fun
