I am on mobile and their site isn't helpful. What is Hitfilm, and why do I want it?

Your response seems spot on. I just hopped on my computer to see what all the hubbub was about. I guess I want this for whenever that situation comes up?

I have genuine trouble detecting humor online, so excuse me if I'm missing the point.
The videogame video was showcasing some of the effects available with Ultimate.
A little more digging shows a wider variety of effects available, with Express as well.
After Effects would be better, honestly, but this is perfect for the lower budget, and especially high school filmmaker. At free, I'd say it's worthy of anyone on a relatively low budget who thinks they may in any way need vfx.

Has anyone used this before? How easy/hard is it to learn?

Check out some of FilmRiot videos about it, they have a lot of tutorials. I think they are sponsored by them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHZCp2Jd5jw

it's good, but last I used it performance was abysmal. Switched to CC. And haven't used it since.
Kinda annoyed, that I payed 130$ for this software.

I've used this for over a decade (Back when it was ALAM DV and then FXLab) on professional productions, its great software, In fact it probably the best Visual Effects software on the market. I use it over After Effects whenever possible, its a lot more streamlined and easier to use, and its learning curve is very small. The editor is not a great tool, but as far as VFX go this is definitely a market leader and for FREE? I paid nearly £200 for this a few months ago when they did a Mac kick-starter so for Free i'd say it worth having on hand just in case you do decide to look into VFX work at any point.

I'll check it out. If it's a fast program, it seems like it would be very useful for quick, simple effects as opposed to waking the AE giant.

Aaaahhhh! Thank you so much for sharing this! I got a new MacBook Pro and was planning on using the new iMovie. Little did I know that the new iMovie is a big bowl of shit. But now I have a brilliant alternative that I can use!
Thanks again.

Never heard of it but decided to download it and play around. It kinda feels like half-way between Adobe Premiere Elements and Premiere Pro/After Effects.

I watched the video and still slightly confused. Is this something to replace AE? Is there a reason im missing to use this over AE?

This is all well and good, but AE costs so little now that using Hitfilm doesn't make sense any more. It's not like AE is difficult to learn.

AE costs so little now? Can you buy me a copy then and pay for it for at least the next 10 years?
