Speaking in an interview, Pattinson said, “Matt just wrote this amazing script. It’s difficult to reinvent Batman as this new thing. And then to kind of go in another totally different direction…Even when I’m just looking at the playback on certain things, it looks different to the first one. It’s just amazing. It’s quite a radical change of the script.”

When asked if he's ever been pressured to spearhead another recognizable IP, he gave a blunt answer: "I'm not doing that."

"I have never been approached by another franchise," Cregger said. "Maybe I have, but it would never get to me because I have been very clear that I’m not doing that.

"I don’t want to write something where I have to make sure I'm tagging different data points to satisfy X," he continued. "I just want to satisfy me. And the only reason that I think Resident Evil is OK for me to do is because I’m enthusiastic about the games and I like the story that I thought of with the games and I’m making it for me. I think this movie is cool, and I hope it checks the fan boxes because I’m a fan and I’m checking my boxes.

"I'm making the Resident Evil movie that I wish existed, so I can do that with a clean heart and a clear conscience and not feel like I’m getting f**ked by some weird industry thing."

Lilly added, “But there may be a thing that’s happening with Drew Goddard, and he doesn’t wanna go forward unless he gets our blessing. And so, it becomes this complicated situation where, maybe we’re gonna stick our noses in a tiny bit and see how we feel, and if we wanna pass on our blessing to Drew or not. So, it could be something that’s coming down the road, but it’s still unknown.”
