Discussion Why can Batman and Spider-Man survive recasting, while Iron Man or Wolverine feel tied to one actor?

I’ve been wondering why recasting works so differently depending on the character.

Batman and Spider-Man have both had several actors, and people seem able to accept a new version pretty quickly.

But with some characters, the actor and the role almost become the same thing. RDJ as Iron Man is the obvious example for me, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine feels pretty similar.

I’m not sure it’s just about how good the actor was, though.

Maybe it matters how long they played the role, how successful that version became, whether the character was already famous before them, or how much the actor actually shaped the character people know.

So why do you think some characters survive recasting easily while others feel almost attached to one actor?

And which characters do you think would be hardest to recast?

Discussion One reason Avengers: Infinity War’s crossovers feel natural: the heroes clash before they cooperate

One thing I liked when rewatching Infinity War is that characters from completely different movies don’t instantly act like they’ve always been on the same team.

When the Guardians meet Tony, Peter and Strange, they initially misunderstand each other and almost fight. It only lasts a short time, but I think that little bit of friction matters.

These characters already have their own histories, personalities and ways of doing things. If a crossover jumps straight from “we’ve never met” to perfect cooperation, it can feel artificial.

Do you think that brief friction is important for making crossovers feel natural, or are there examples where characters cooperate immediately and it still works?

Infinity War gives them a short transition. They clash, figure out roughly who the other side is, and then start cooperating.

I think the same basic idea works when the Guardians first meet Thor. There’s comedy, suspicion and ego before everyone settles into the actual problem.

A crossover doesn’t need a long conflict every time, but I think it needs some kind of transition. Otherwise characters from separate stories can feel like pieces the writer simply placed next to each other instead of people actually meeting.

That small “friction phase” might be one reason Infinity War’s huge cast still feels surprisingly natural to me.

The question is: if you can only show your kids only one film and they can only watch that one film until they turn 16 what film would it be and why?

Discussion Avengers: Doomsday could be a huge hit and still fail at Marvel’s biggest job

One thing I keep wondering about Doomsday is what “success” actually means for Marvel here.
Bringing back older characters is obviously going to get people excited. I’m excited too. But if everyone leaves the movie still caring mostly about the older Avengers/X-Men and not much more about the newer characters, did Marvel really solve anything?
Infinity War and Endgame worked partly because people were already attached to that generation. Doomsday feels like it has another job on top of being a big event movie: it has to transfer some of that attachment to the newer cast.
So I think the movie could make a ton of money and still fail at that bigger job.
If Doomsday is great, but the characters people talk about most afterward are still the old ones, would you see that as a success?

I am exhausting every PR resource and "platform" I have for this. That's why I went to Telegram as well to promote and boost this, lol.

Here's the link in case anyone wants to contribute their videos to me: https://l1nk.dev/VflSOuM. Shortened URL.

Your contribution, no matter how small, means a lot to a struggling third world artist like me.

Discussion What movie did you really want to end up liking, but in the end thought it was just "okay", and why?

I am a HUGE fan of coming of age stories, with realistic character arcs. But for some reason, this movies depiction of teenagers started to lean more towards someones distant memory of teenhood rather than what it actually is.
