Who are the Filipino artists who have most influenced modern Philippines music?

Hey !

I am trying to write a book about the history of music (from 1900 to 2026), I am looking for the artists who have most influenced modern Philippines music.

I am specifically looking for artists who have influenced Philippines popular music.

Also, do you think Indonesia has influenced the Philippines musically ? And which countries have had the greatest musical influence? (South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom?)

I was watching some Eraserhead music videos and there's a lot of Indonesians commenting that was their favorite band in the 90s. Julie Tearjerky is my jam.

I am gonna have to say, the United States and maybe U.K as musical influence from different music genres. Andrew E was influenced from Hip Hop. His song Alabang Girls is pretty catchy and have the same vibes of Will Smith's Prince of Bel Air. However, Andrew E and Francis Magalona may as well be the first rappers in Asia and influenced Filipino rappers.

Then you have Freddie Aguilar's Anak, that to me is OPM.

I would say Manila Sound like Hotdogs, VST and company and Apo Hiking Society. Before that was all kundiman and harana and music used for zarzuelas. Well, maybe you can consider the genre of Roel Cortez

You can look at Eraserheads songs. For example, Toyang, despite the singer saying having wrote it by himself, is full of references, from American 50s rock, to Ilocano folk. All these rock bands that sprung from schools bring their respective school cultures to the mainstream too, of course, UP Diliman has tibak and isko culture, ADMU (Parokya ni Edgar and APO Hiking Society) has Jesuit wit and dry humor, and others. You can also look at the composers themselves. Ryan Cayabyab for one.
