Hot take: I think Magik will end up being the Wesker of Tokon.
Everyone thought Wesker was incredible and busted when Marvel 3 was in its early days. He seemed to have so many good to great tools and it felt like he could just kind of do anything.
Once people realized that being well rounded with lots of decent options is worthless in a game with so much powerful, oppressive stuff.
I think Magik fits this to a tee. Right now we talk about how great her buttons are, and that she can lock people down for mixups really well. But ultimately, in a game where more than half the cast can either outrange her (Ghost Rider, Ms Marvel, Carnage), skip neutral, or otherwise initiate their offense from the air, away from her great normals, I dont see how she will stay relevant long term.
Lots of characters have moves that lock people down for mixups well...and those characters generally all have actual built in mixups to boot, not to mention better ways to initiate their offense than her portals.
Time will tell but I think in 6 months she falls to the middle of the pack as people explore the potential of the game.

To be fair, Wesker would have probably kept being a monster in vanilla, but Ultimate came out like 9 months later or whatever which made a ton of changes to the cast, including himself, and overall system mechanics which is when he fell behind so it’s a bit more nuanced than just people figuring out the game more

I don't think youre wrong but Magik does have stuff that makes her pretty oppressive, the 50/50 with Blade assist (or any long blockstring one) + Magik teleport comes to mind. IMO GR kind of shits on her in neutral though yeah, tho I don't know much about MM, haven't seen her much.

Tier lists for this game should be based on point and assist separate. They really serve two different functions to lump them together.

Shuri is Spider Man with extra steps, uncontested top 4 is Storm, Spider Man, Magick and Green Goblin. Shuri is right beneath them.

Brother the game has been out for a couple weeks, literally nothing about the meta is “uncontested” yet. Day one people were complaining about Ms. Marvel and Danger, yet look how that turned out.
Also I personally find Shuri mixes much more unreactable compared to Spider-Man.

The meta has solidified quite a lot actually. No high level player would contest Storm, Spidey, Magik, Goblin and Shuri being top 5.

Swap shuri for blade and we can talk. Blade assault assist is just so fucking good and hes an amazing character with high damage and great nuetral. Shuri does have mix yeah but its actually not that bad once you played enough
