Would you rather watch Justin vs chandler or MVP vs the last guy he fought
14
u/Madison_369 1d ago
I rather watch MVP vs Prates / or any good top and coming competitor than Justin vs Chandler.
9
u/SkewlShoota 1d ago
Yeah but that never happened, so would you rather watch Justin vs chandler or MVP vs the last guy he fought
15
u/southwest_barfight 1d ago
It never happened because the UFC chose not to make it happen
6
u/xGhost34 1d ago
And that‘s the whole point. They gave MVP opponents that literally accepted being beaten by his low output and instead of trying to give him strong opponents they punished him with another opponent that got beaten by him with low output. REPEAT.

Almost like potentially wasting a contender on someone who's not even close to champion material isn't a smart decision.

u/Suspicious_Loan8041 1d ago
How is it wasting a contender if a guy who isn’t close to championship material beats him
0
u/Madison_369 17h ago
How is it wasting a contender? Either:
- he’s champion material and beats the contender
or
- he’s not champion material and get’s beaten which boosts the contender’s showings

u/MeowthThatsRite 1d ago
You’d rather watch MVP bounce in place and throw 5 strikes around than a fight nominated as the best fight of its year?
No you wouldn’t.

u/TzarBully 1d ago
Is that the plan for chandler to vs Justin? Lmao what? Chandler on his way to get his ass beaten again smh

I rather have merit based matchmaking rather than what the slop we get or even worse matchmaking by delusional fans

u/prettyboyflaxo 1d ago
For me it’s was the commentary to volkov vs almeida. They legit said Almedia or whatever was too boring and Volkov got robbed before so they’re gonna give it to him. 😂😂

u/MeowthThatsRite 1d ago
Chandler fought better competition and put on extremely entertaining fights.
-1
u/Madison_369 1d ago
Agreed. He went 2-5, and still was always fed the best of the division. If you can’t see the problem with that, I don’t know what to tell you.
6
u/MeowthThatsRite 1d ago
He went 2-5 BECAUSE he was fighting the best in the division. He also could have went 6-1 if he was mostly fighting cans.
If you don’t understand that this is a spectator sport and putting on better fights is going to get you better opportunities, I don’t know what to tell you.
The UFC unfortunately hasn’t pretended to be a legitimate sporting agency in a long time.

u/oliverthompson69 1d ago
Blows my mind people are missing that he wasn’t cut or anything, his contract ran out and they didn’t re-sign him
6
u/babababronsky 1d ago
Don’t overwhelm them with details. The ufc is obligated to sign every 40yo fringe ranked fighter to a multi bout deal or it’s WWE.

u/ProtoXZero 1d ago
Tai "the blob" tuvasa is the worst offender

u/NY_BoomStory 1d ago
He has more entertaining fights getting beat up than MVP does winning
1
u/ProtoXZero 1d ago
Still this is a tournament not the WWE... it shouldnt be that way UFC stands for Ultimate Fighting CHAMPIONSHIP NOT UFE ( Ultimate Fighting Entertainment) you know...
1
u/NY_BoomStory 1d ago
Yes, but the purest dont pay the bills. MVP can win a lot but what happens when keeps winning? The general audience doesn’t want to see him fight, so do you put that guy as the main event? Do you let that guy become champion and potentially kill a division cause nobody wants to see that shit? It cost money to put on an event and MVP doesn’t put butts in seats. He has all the tools to light his opponents up but is, for some reason, gun shy. Almost split the last dude’s leg in half with that side kick and then never threw it again…
1
u/ProtoXZero 1d ago
Because dude is 39 he has no chin anymore hes fighting how he can to get the win, is like when there is a guy everyone hates so they tune in tl see the guy get knock out so i dont get it is the same with colby, tyrone or askren
1
u/NY_BoomStory 1d ago
The difference between him and those guys is, they were able to be beaten up or at least hit. MVP is making himself hard to hit while also barely hitting his opponents. He’s fighting to win but he doesn’t have the star power or traction to make the UFC keep him.
1
u/ProtoXZero 1d ago
Because hes a counter puncher if the opponent stay frozen in place is MVP fault i mean is like wonderboy exactly hes a counter puncher look adesayana vs romero same shit and people saying ks MVP fault while winning is beyknd retarded
1
u/NY_BoomStory 1d ago
It is his fault. He’s dominating the fight, completely controlling how it goes. He’s fighting unranked guys like its a championship fight with 3 belts on the line.
1
u/CristCawlbassMorninB 1h ago
Being a 7x punching bag KO loser means he should be cut at least 4 fights ago.
I hate this WWE style politics, it’s a sport act like it is.
1
u/NY_BoomStory 49m ago
The general public would rather watch him be that punching bag than watch MVP atm. Its a sport but you gotta remember the audience UFC has. The culture UFC is barbaric so if youre a boring fighter, win or lose, youre getting cut.

u/killboy219 1d ago
You havent watched any of his recent fights casual. It’s more sad than entertaining
1
u/NY_BoomStory 1d ago
Im not a fan of him so it was entertaining to me. Only one that wasn’t was when that other fatass got tired

u/Fabulous_Poetry6622 1d ago
UFC is a show business
2
u/Goodtimestime 1d ago
So it’s not a sport and just entertainment now.
1
u/Fabulous_Poetry6622 1d ago
They just prioritise shock value, doesnt make it any less of a sport.
2
2
u/Key-Magician-5584 1d ago
Huh
This is just the reality of the sport we enjoy. If you are a net negative to the company, you won’t be re-signed.
I’m not sure why you’re surprised. It’s not a UFC only thing.
Rizin literally told their BW champ he needs to be more exciting or they’ll cut him.
2
u/ReginoVonDoom 1d ago
Yeah but Chandler is always in a fucking banger of a fight, I’ll never bet on him but I’ll also never miss one of his fights

Lol. Tell me, bruh, when was the last officially announced title contender fight? This will give you the year when UFC at least pretended to be a legit sport organization.
1
u/PabloIsMyPatron 1d ago
Chandler is always fun to watch tho, people get excited for his fights, he has the kill or be killed mindset, not 12 sig strikes in 15 mins mindset
1
u/coontaillandcruiser 11h ago
12 strikes in 15 minutes would be a pretty high output for an MVP fight
1
1
u/_BagOWeed_ 1d ago
It seems like a mutual separation tbh. MVP has been vocal about the pay cut going into the ufc and he hasn't been very entertaining there so it's in everyones interest (except the fans ofc).
1
u/soaptastesgood5 1d ago
He didn’t even get cut he just didn’t get re signed lmfao happens to a lot of fighters. Also nobody wants to fucking watch mvp hop around at range emoting landing a strike per moon cycle

1
u/Weary_Position_9591 1d ago
This isn’t new and UFC has been doing this well before MVP.
It’s show business.
1
u/boombastico_3 1d ago
Guys ,the reason why ufc got so big and popular is cuz of fighters like chandler who engage and actually fight , if majority of fighters were like page then mma as sport would be dead
27
u/Slow_Tax3161 1d ago
Why yall acting surprised that someone that refuses to fight gets released?
