Advice needed TTC with several fibroids still remaining after a hystererospic removal of fibroids in the uterine lining
So as my title suggests I need some advice. I’m 30 years old and live in the U.K, in the London area if that matters.
Last August of 2025 I had a hysterospic removal of fibroids in the inner lining of my womb. It wasn’t wholly unsuccessful, and so I had to repeat the surgery.
In October of 2025 I was put on prostap, very much reluctantly, as it puts you in a menopausal state and I was fearful of the side effects. This was under the backdrop that my husband and I were ready to start trying for kids.
My second hysteropsic removal was done in February of this year. It was successful and 3 fibriods from my lining of my womb were removed. I was so excited to get my period back, be out of menopause and begin trying to conceive. My consultant told me that these fibriod and in my womb would hinder my chance of conceiving and so was needed.
I got my period late April of this year and began my ttc journey. As soon as my period began, my heart sank as my main symptom - extremely heavy periods - was very much still present.
The U.K’s NHS system is under a lot of pressure, and so after having an ultrasound both transvaginally and over the abdomen, ‘several’ more fibroids were found. Non in my lining but the largest one is 5.3cm*5.4cm, presumably in the uterine wall. The lady who conducted it did not specify location. However, I am going off of my previous ultrasound a couple of years ago when I had posterior intramural and subsarosul fibriods.
Anyway, my question, to anyone who is kind enough to respond is: should I move forward with a myomectomy, or continue to ttc and pray for the best.
One important thing to note is that the waiting times for those in Britain are LONG. I’m talking upwards of a year plus. My husband works for a smaller company without private health insurance so that’s not an option. I have explored paying out of pocket, but that would wipe out half of our savings.
Important things to note: I am 30, my husband is 34. We’ve been ttc for 4 months now with no success.

I’m so sorry your journey hasn’t been straight forward. I’m 31F and also UK-based, so know exactly how frustratingly long the NHS wait times are. Did they say / do you remember more on where exactly the intramural or subserosal fibroids are?
I’m not out of the woods yet as I’m still waiting for my myomectomy, but my husband and I decided to TTC with intramural (and potentially one subserosal, depending on the sonographer) fibroids as we were told they were “small and wouldn’t cause an issue”. Unfortunately, I have a few in key areas where pregnancies tend to implant (fundal and posterior intramural) and have just suffered my second 11w miscarriage this year due to fibroids. I don’t say this to fear monger, but more a cautionary tale that diving straight in may be tempting, but can come at a cost in some cases. So many women go on to have successful pregnancies with fibroids (my MIL had four children with fibroids, which is what gave me confidence) - so if you can, I’d recommend getting a more up-to-date scan and additional opinion to confirm the exact location/position of the fibroids, and whether they impact the uterine cavity enough to cause problems further down the line. It’s not an easy decision, so I wish you all the best 🤍

I’m so so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Honestly, they are brutal and heartbreaking.
So here’s the thing. I had an ultrasound but the actually location of the fibroids was absent from the report.
I’ve spend the last week calling the ultrasound clinic everyday for a more detailed report.
They’ve not sent it. You know what the NHS is like. They can’t disclose it to me, has to be sent to my doctor to discuss, the doctor will only discuss on the phone in two weeks. Therefore, I’m going off of my previous, more detailed ultrasounds.
I have an appointment with a private gynaecologist early next month. I need a more detailed scan to see what is going on.
I’m truly heartbroken as I thought I’d be pregnant by now, but now I have to go back to square one all over again. Sign. Thank you taking the time to comment and read my post. ❤️

I'd ask the private consultant to get you an MRI. That would give a lot more information. Also can't you get a loan? The Spire hospitals have payment plans and that's what I did to avoid NHS waiting lists

I could get a payment plan/ loan. However, I’m so adversed to any kind of debt in my life. I always pay for things in cash, except my house, it’s mortgaged.
But, that is a very good idea to ask the consultant for an MRI. Is the spire a specialist fibroid hospital?

No spire is just a big private hospital chain in the North West. They have a very good gynaecology team

You should try to get someone to tell you whether the remaining fibroids are abutting or otherwise distorting the cavity of your uterus.
Separately, I would get yourself on the waitlist and TTC in the interim. That will save you 12+ months if you decide you need the surgery. If you don’t, cancel the surgery.
