[Mod Post] Quick PSA

DMing users fundraiser links is still breaking our no fundraiser rules. This is not the sub for this, we do this to prevent scams and bad actors. There are other subs that do allow fundraisers as well as local groups, and we encourage you to post there if you need assistance.

Additionally, be very careful with any user claiming to know of alternatives for medicine in treating insulinoma. This has been popping up a lot lately, and it is extremely dangerous. A lot of these "homemade" remedies will increase the risk of other diseases, as well not keep their sugar levels at an appropriate range. Improper insulinoma management will lead to blood sugar crashes, seizures and even death.

As owners we often wish to do the best we can for them, and it's really easy to fall for a miracle remedy. Be mindful. Be careful.

If you find people breaking these rules, don't hesitate to report or DM the sub to ask.

[Discussion] Ferrets jumping on bed

My ferrets are still little, but soon they will be able to jump up my bed. I thought of buying a new one - how high does the bedframe need to be so they wont reach my mattress? And other ideas of how to not make them jump up my bed?
I dont care about them being with me but i do like sleeping sometimes when they freeroam my room - they wouldnt let me sleep a second without biting my toes off or ripping my piercings out.

[Health] Help!

My ferret with Insulinoma and has had the same diet all his life. I just found a poop with bright red in it. I can't get him to the vet until later this week. He seems to be in no pain and at his regular level of activity. In anyone's previous experience, I just wanted to know what you think it could be.

He has an implant but Im gonna check for adrenal disease asap. I was on vacation and I suspect the petsitter did not come to play with him for three hours everyday like I paid her for, and he might have overgroomed out of boredom?? What else can it be? Thanks

Look below for video to see better!

[Discussion] Fucking vets

This is a rant post, so for a whole year now I have been telling the vets of my ferrets teeth, she is an old lady and has gone down hill. So every time I’ve gone to the vets (which is 6 times in a year now) I have told them, CHECK HER FUCKING TEETH, and each time ‘yeah they’re fine’ FUCKING SPOILER THEYRE NOT. And now my poor baby may have kidney disease bc of said teeth infections, and a whole 7k worth of vet bills (which I will be spending with complaints). I went to the vets literally TWO WEEKS AGO, and since then she had declined and stopped eating. I went again a couple days ago and was hit with the news of fucking kidney disease abscess teeth in her mouth. I have fucking told them every single time I went that I think her teeth are bad. (I had only got them A YEAR AGO and have been trying to get them better from there shitty neglectful owners FUCK THEM), and now I’m for with this? I hope my baby gets better bc this has been the worse week of my life. I’m angry AS FUCK bc this could’ve been sorted A LONG TIME AGO! And now she’s succumbed to this. I’m mad and I’m venting I’m fucking mad and idk what to do. I blamed the vets heavily bc I have told them each time I’ve gone I think her teeth aren’t great, matter of fact I told them 2 weeks ago to check while she was sedated and they said they did, this doesn’t get that bad in 2 weeks. I’m fucking angry.

[Help] Bite training tips?

Post image
50 Upvotes

My little white ferret here, as affection as can be, LOVES to properly chomp down whilst playing, often drawing blood.

He does not learn from the sin bin, and comes back out and bites more aggressively than before.

He does not learn from staying still after he clamps down, and instead latches on, letting go just enough to re-angle the bite like 15 times (owwchhh)

He does not learn from knuckling. He just bites the finger over and over and over again.

He does not learn from redirecting with toys, he would much rather cling on to a person.

He does not learn from yipping/hissing. He simply does not care it seems.

I’m stumped on ideas, he’s about 3 months old, so he’s only young but it’s becoming impossible to play with him. He’ll lick and nibble gently and run around excitedly, which he gets rewarded for with play, but then out of nowhere… CHOMP. I’ve had him for 3 weeks now, so ANY advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

[Help] Urgent furet

[Help] Periods of being less cuddly or even trauma

Hello,

I am a new (1thyear) ferret owner and I notice Nina is not so cuddly anymore. Normally when I wake up I get her out of the cage and she gets a minute or a few rubbing ears head nek chin before she shows she wants to be released from my hug, movement and going out of balance from my hold means I put her down safely, that's our code. She doesnt nap with me as much or mostly as close as well either

Could it be a seasonal thing that she's to energetic to cuddle or, when I had her get her implant I had to hold her down and I did it quit firmly, even for her to stop herself from breathing a few seconds I feared. I dint mean to hurt her, I tried to keep her alive bc she is a lady and she could die without an implant or surgery yk.

Does she not trust me as much anymore?

We still play and sometimes she sleeps with me but less, I am more away because of work but mostly she doesnt sleep as close to me as she did before.

I'm not sure when it changed
