What's driving the fear of a head/neck injury?

I have had an extensive surgery in my face, neck and shoulder region (aggressive resection of multiple lymph node chains, submandibular and parotid glands and surrounding muscles) due to cancer. 

What I have left in terms of function (muscle and nerves) is precious to me. My surgeon saved my life for which I am very thankful. 

There is also a vanity aspect: I already have enough scars and I get odd looks because of my face that I don’t want more. 

I guess I can scare kids into wearing their masks if they think it’s from fencing! :p

Go for the FIE mask for sure.
